Business gets slow when I allow it to be slow. There is always something to do.

no, listing calls are coming in.... I think they all want closings before the end of the year.... and they're buying locally through us, too.... summer sucked compared to this!!!

I usually make 50% of my annual in the last quarter. I attempt to close up shop last week of the year, for downtime and to do EOY stuff--but the fates do not always cooperate with that plan.
So 4 day hangover after NYD. Whatever! 😈

It varies from year-to-year - when our inventory is up, my holiday season is overwhelmingly busy during that time.

When the inventory is low, it's a very 'average' time, which it has been for the last 3 years.

Our inventory in Charlotte is still quite low so, I have been prospecting like a maniac to have an above average holiday season this year!! So far, so good!

Business is never slow as there are always things to do, improve on and plan for. These are part of the real estate business, too.

Not business, it's I that gets slow during the holidays.

No, we were working others were off, so we did a lot of business in the last two weeks of December.  A

      I won't show houses to people who are "here for the holidays".  It's a waste of time.

For home improvement, it slows down for sure.  Big rush up till Thanksgiving.  Then, the monday after a bunch of calls for about 1.5 weeks, then next to nothing.  When it comes to flooring, very little is done if someone already lives in the home, especially as it relates to sanding and refinishing.  People often need to wait until the Christmas tree is gone.

That aside, Christmas week is a very busy week for the crews...one of the busiest of the year.  Lots of sanding jobs for those going away.  Those spots fill up quickly. 

I think of these times as opportunities...business can and does happen throughout the year.  

Business does slow a little during the holidays which is good so I can spend precious time with my loved ones!

There are years when those are very busy times for me. But I don't ever remember not having business at all at that time.

The weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas are sometimes slow here but otherwise really not much change.

I can be all cute and fluffy and say that business is great!

Yet, not just for me, CA sales dropped significantly in last two months. I'm doing my best and always ready to list a house or show a property. So, I just keep ''swimming'':) There are so many opportunities to touch up the existing clients and add new potential customers to my database. It is always busy. 

Last week of the year is usually quiet.

We are super busy this time of year! 

In our market, we get snowbirds! And equestrians! 

Our high selling season is November to April! 

So it is opposite of places where you have snowy winters. :)

Historically the less than serious buyers and sellers will go off the market for the holidays, especially once the deadline to be in by Christmas passes.  January sees a different type of buyer and seller out here and then the regulars return in March.

Real estate sells year round because life does not stop for anyone. Transfers, estate sales, divorces and moving up or down as your housing needs change. Folks gather around the computer monitor to warm their hearts, dream about buying in a new area over the holiday when they decide let's make a change or an investment. Videos are the best way to show your area, your properties. Round the clock, 8 days a week. Some agents, brokers want to slurp the egg nog with the firewater in it munching on peanut brittle and fudge, coconut balls. Theyt look forward to goofing off and justify it with the age old nothing sells over the holidays anyway mentality. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Usually but this year is not slowing down like normal. Maybe it's because half my staff is gone and i'm picking up their slack!

On the days I'm not in the office!

It all depends on the year, one year I was writing an offer on Christmas eve. Other years I have been slow mid Dec until right after Christmas then had super busy Januarys.

Typically there is always a seasonal slowdown around the holidays.

Only one year in the many I was truly active!

Sales are slower right now, and usually are.  Great time to get caught up with updates to the web site, get advertising ready for the New Year, etc.
