I concur with others on here. I report kooks, scammers, and haters, then I personally delete their comments (I view them as stains on the blog that need eradicating). And with the haters, specifically, remember that silence can be very powerful (your refusal to engage with them will likely just rile them up even more - knowing they couldn't get a rise out of you no matter how hard they tried).  - Tim

I find the Illuminati talk very interesting but I would not engage this kook obviously looking for money.  Every once in awhile I can't resist. 

You haven't gotten the one about inheriting $100,000,000 yet? There's a lot of crazy stuff online- mark as spam, block the user, report them to the site & move on. I don't ever comment or respond- that will just encourage more of the same.

Harmless/entertaining kooks may be retained for entertainment value.

I am triggered by the following:
Folks who engage in discussion with intelligent people using nothing but grammar/spelling abortions, memes and emojis.
"Do some research", "Educate yourself" etc in an attempt to be condescending. 
"I know you are but what am I." 
Ad hominem attacks.
I just nuke them with impunity and vigor.
THEN, I watch the one-sided discussion between them (who I cannot see) and those attempting to reason with them.  3:)

On my personal blog site I disable commenting.  On FB I moderate all comments.  Other sites, if something like that was posted I'd delete it.

I don't respond and I don't comment Caroline Gerardo.  I'm not interested in 'starting' or 'furthering' a comment that would lead into a dialogue.  I shall read below, as you have alot of replies!

If it's a spam/kook comment on my own post, I'd just delete it.

If it was a hater comment and was specifically addressing me, I might respond or I might delete. It depends on what the comment said, and who said it.

That comments sound like a scam. 

Yet, back to your question about a real negative personal comments: I would not delete them( happens often in Yelp reviews, page reviews). Looks like your response to it and desire to fix or understand another side can make a huge difference for that person and public in general. 

Don't bother reading it.. spam/junk it.

Stuff like that I'd just report. Had to take out a beat stick on a total PR**K earlier this year, couldn't let his silly comments go unchallenged. Unfortunately for him, his business will die a long, but slow death. SAD!
