The changes I have experienced in my lifetime make my head spin at time.I grew up having to work for everything. Nothing was handed to me. Now it seems handouts are expected. I can neither isolate the core of the problems, or solve them. It is certainly a different world today.

I feel sorry for those grown up infants. Because eventually their parents are going to die, probably without the means to maintain the lifestyle to which their special snowflakes have been accustomed because they juiced out all their savings on coddling.

Andrew Mooers Famous last words from my father when I was growing up. "When I was your age. . ." I've even caught my self saying it. I believe every generation goes through this. I do believe this is the first generation where the children won't be better off than their parents. Academia has turned into a profitable industry for the colleges and universities. I can't tell you how many people I know who are not working in their college major.

I consider myself blessed. From the time I was 12 years old, my legal guardians required me to earn money for anything I wanted that wasn't considered essential. And, I made most of my own clothes from the time I was 14 until graduating from high school. One of the big problems today is kids go to university and come out with no real skill. They have huge debt and can't get a job. I am a big fan of learning a trade BEFORE heading to the expensive universities.

Of the "Brokers Kids" I know that have either become agents or Brokers themselves I've seen it split pretty much 50/50 and not oddly enough if dad was a jerk or dishonest so was/is Jr.

I don't comment on other people's kids... ours are not spoiled or entitled and neither are our grandschildren. But no doubt over-indulgence is a problem when raising children.

It's definitely an issue in some generations.
I think I have been blessed with the millennial clients and agents that I have had the pleasure of working with. They've all put their trust in me and haven't allowed any parental upbringing to surface while we are working together!

We've all heard the phrase - 'We get what we allow' ... I work tirelessly for clients - yet I always emphasize that this is a 'team effort' - There's no space for immaturity - let's work together and accomplish the goal!

What job is that?
I don't have a job, I own a business and created a career and it suffers no brats; but it does school them when they try to be less than professional.

I agree, that is a terrible upbringing: "Two worst things that can happen to a child is never to have his own way - or always to have it."

Sadly we do see many entitled young adults, and definitely different from when I was that age!

In my 37 years in real estate, people have changed and some of it isn't pleasant. I am finding the millenials are very respectful of people my age. I love working with them.

I give them the talk that needs to be given and if they are not willing to listen and follow some drection, POOF they are gone

The kids, or adults, who are spoiled didn't get that way without help. And those who are will, sadly, likely perpetuate it. Thankfully there are many who are not this way!!

I see those Harvard newly grads come to the Open House asking how much they get paid from realtors commission as part of their downpayment.
I also meet those brats think they know it all.
