As a buyer I have had my agent move to another office and the deal was finished with the broker working for me instead of the agent.

The agent can only work for ONE broker.
If agent changes offices, they no longer work for the old broker or own any of their deals.
Of course that can be changed by what the office policy manual says and agreement of BOTH brokers...the new broker and old broker.
If I fired an agent, they did not get to finish what they were working on. They did however get paid something on it as did the new agent.

No; that is highly atypical since when that happens, the original listing agent i giving up a huge share of their commission.

Fred Griffin No, I've never had this happen. I have worked some commercial deals where two or more agents shared the listing. I never knew which one would show up.

It happens. All listings are the broker's. Listing agent leaves, broker takes over and or assigns an agent.

I've requested the Broker take over the tranasaction a few times due to agent incompetence.

Sure a few times-once when I refused to work with an unethical agent and my sellers sided with me. It can work both ways.

We have had listings reassigned to us by our Broker when the original listing agent wasn't working out for the Seller...

Ugh...That's a nightmare. This happened to me. I left a firm and the Broker sent letters to all my listings saying, "I'll be representing you now." All of them terminated their listing agreements and once they expired all of them had new MLS numbers. It's. A. Nightmare.

I have had only Brokers bring the sale to closing when this happens and would gladly accept another agent's assignment if necessary. No problems!

I have currently taken over a deal for one of the agents in my brokerage due to seller/agent issues. We will close, hopefully early next week, and will be happy to have this challenging deal behind us!

you can always communicate with the broker/owner if the assignment is more than agent #2 can handle!!!

Yes. In Pennsylvania the listing is with the broker not the agent. If the agent leaves the broker the listing stays with the broker who will assign another agent to take over.
Does the original agent get paid? It depends on the broker.

No, I have not.
However, should such occur on a statically relevant number, the importance of the real estate agent may become apparent.
This is a good object lesson for newbie agents. When you sign that agreement with the broker, make sure you understand just how the broker can hurt you.
