I think Hillary did it because her book sales are so slow.

No, hackers are just smarter than the geeks they're using for security.. They need to hire hackers that are better than the hackers. Counterhackers, if you will. And that's going to cost $$ because black market data is really valuable.

You know that could be true. Funny how when you go to buy a new car or even a new home, you get flooded with credit offers the next year. Some one told someone.

No, I don't think so - I don't think anyone would be that stupid! I think hackers just have nothing better to do with their time and were smarter than those manning the vault at Equifax.

Does it matter, the damage is done, one hack after another and the Russians have won the cold war without firing a shot.

There are other credit scores comapnies that will take cover role. Lexis Nexis, Sterling.....
They obtained your info for free and sell it to whoever who pays a fee. What goes around will come around. That is just life.....

No, they were just caught with their pants down. I do wonder about those 3 execs that sold stock. That should be looked into immediately.
They are already going to stop any profit from this like with the credit monitoring.

With the real estate crash in 2008, crooked loans, crooked stock market, I believe Equifax is covering up something by blaming hackers for taking information.
Very possibly a inside job and I don't trust any large corporations, they are all greedy and out for the money!

Well, considering the person in charge of IT security at Equifax during the breach had the resumé of a music major, and it came to light that one of their foreign sites had their login credentials set as "admin/admin", and they failed to update an apache security patch that had been available for several months before the breach, I just think they were sloppy, arrogant, and unprepared for anyone to try to break in.
Today's hackers can break into carefully guarded systems with pretty high tech preventions in place, so they can surely breach a company that's not even covering the basics of cyber security.
So I fall in the club that it's not a result of Equifax' greed, but stupidity.

no, in fact I have it on good authority that a third party phone app provided the loophole the hackers used. So time to stop letting people use an app to "monitor" their credit.

I suppose it's possible but hackers are so sophisticated these days it does not surprise me they were hacked. The crime is not having the best protections in place. Bottom line what matters is we all have to be prepared to deal with the impact

No, I do not believe that Equifax did that. There are hackers working 24 hours a day for thrill and monetary gains of breaching major industry, public and government files.

No. As crooked as these large organizations become, I can't believe they would stoop that far. There may be an individual within the organization, but not the organization itself.
