I connect with places, the  people I met in certain restaurants, certain cities and depends if I want to meet that person again how much more I want to remember...

Inna Ivchenko - I use my cell-phone to record the name/number (if any) etc and save it as a message or email/forward message to myself.

For me engaging as many senses as possible makes them more easily remembered.

if it's important, I can and will remember it....  of course, as I get older, it's becoming more difficult !!! I do write myself notes...

For clients I turn it into humor or find something they liked or didn't like about the house.

Me, I absolutely SUCK now with names. I could use help.

I can easily remember a lot of things well but names are m not one of them. That is a work in progress and a long road to go!

It's interesting. I have no problem remembering houses and specific details (location of water shut-off, type of heat, age of appliances, type of roof, etc.) but I'll forget your name ten seconds after you tell me! I used to just accept that as a weakness until I learned that it was actually a lack of training. Now I'm practicing and getting better at it. Great question, Janice!

I have no tips for you, Inna, I'm afraid. Somehow, I have a really good memory and can remember properties I show really well. I don't attend busy parties.

There are times one is overwhelmed with people you met. Just hand out your card and hope someone remembers you.  

You do not want to show too many properties. In our area they all look the same ditto the difference is one has  one more "0" than others in price....

I do know a prime minster who makes notes about people he meets. He draws a birth mark, nick names etc. I got one I called non stop chatter box... 

A....I love your idea. Names, especially the Spouse seem to blank on me. I think my mind is so busy trying to not trip while I am shaking hands that I have forgotten how to concentrate and attach at that moment.

It is tough to remember things, and when ever possible, I do write stuff down.

  For names, use the Dale Carnegie method of repeating their name back to them.  Other details, write them down, or take a photo with your smartphone.

If you find out let me know.  I have great difficulty with this.

Repeatng the name and information and talking about it in relationship to something I know well helps it to stick.

I find avoiding those I met and don't remember their names always works for me!

I accept that unless the name is really unique (like yours) I'm going to forget it, so I don't even try to remember names.  Used to be real easy at the club, 95% of the women I met were some variation on Jennifer.

Home items, I give clients the MLS printout and a pen.  They can jot down notes.  I have my agent detail I can do the same with.

But yet I can quote a movie I haven't seen in 25 years...

I have a few tricks I've learned by studying memory techniques.  The thing is you have to make a focused conscious point of doing it.  Anyone can remember a long list of things, numbers or names if they have a system.   I'm not particularly good at it, though, because I'm lazy and prefer to write things down.  LOL  

I used the notes function on my phone... I can talk into the phone and it transcribes it.  Without it i'd be lost. 

I engage new people in conversation and learn details to associate to their name unique to them. Being engaged and present goes a long way, I have to do it weekly on my Podcast in fact.

I say names 3 times during busy parties, when I'm introduced - when moving to the next person, I will say something like, "Nice to meet you, Inna" (calling their name) so that solidifies it in my memory. 

I'm better at retention when I hear or see something - selective memory with reading!

No special tricks. I prefer to focus on one task at a time and to have a full schedule.

I link to link things to what is visual. Linking in my head an adresss to a famous sports player. Rememberng where people are from such as Boston Rob

I speak at seminars and use a Mail Chimp iPad app to have people sign in to a created group and then I can mass email that group.
