I cannot even imagine what a mess the insurance process will be from Harvey and Irma. It will take years to sort out.

I remember when I was in college there was a lady who worked for an insurance company. She was a little bit older and was one of the VPs.  She told me not to ever work for an insurance company.  Kind of sad when you hear that from an employee.

That's nothing new, Fred. That's the way of insurance like forever. I had a $60K claim when we moved from Paris to Abu Dhabi... it took me two years, but I ultimately collected every last penny of the claim because I could document everything. But boy did they try...

Insurance companies are a PITA to deal with in a regular insurance claim.

Taht is one reason we use State Farm. They have paid for 6 roofs as the result of storm damage. Most of the time they write the check right on the sopt.

Yes, this has been the way of the insurance world for years and I feel so badly for those who are dealing with them in the aftermath of Harvey and very soon, Irma.

And the insured's book... "Sue, sue, sue"

Natural items are luck to get paided but yet everyone insurance goes up.

Texas will be the worst as far as insurance. Flood insurance is not required with mortgages as is in other states.  Without federal flood insurance they can't make a claim. There will be some money to move to higher ground but not enough to make it work.

Without a doubt all of our premiums will increase even if we are not in one of the disaster zones. 

Time to watch the movie The Rainmaker again? (the Matt Damon one, not the Burt Lancaster one).

This will be more about flood insurance since there are class action suits going on in after Sandy where the insurers doctored the reports to show no structural damage.

Cannot imagine what residents of Florida will be going through.  Hope you did not sustain damage.

I am afraid we will see many insurance companies go belly-up and folks will be stuck dealing with long term government loans to put their lives back together.

I often give this recommendation. Do not accept denial. Keep asking. Keep wearing them down.

If I need to, I will hire someone to help.
