I write from my heart. What else would go inside a hand written note other than words of thanks? Congratulations on your new home. Happy Birthday, Happy Anniversary. Congrats on your new baby.

I personally feel it would be better to send out a few farm pieces followed up w/ a note such as:
"Hello,
You may recognize my name from sales I've had in the area, but I wanted to send you a short note to let you know that even if you're not interested in selling in the near future, I'm here if you have questions about anything in the "community name" area. I specialize in the area and would love to be your "go to" for all things real estate.
Just an idea

Sonja Adams - Why are you writing to them?
For whatever reason, write from your heart.
They should be handwritten notes from the heart - just let your heart talk and the words will flow!

Hi Sonja,
It depends, of course, on the situation. In answer to your question to Nina Hollander , say something personal about the reason you are reaching out to that particular person. "I am contacting you because..." Don't send out random solicitations. Have a reason for contacting a specific person (or group of people). Are you a specialist in that particular neighborhood or niche? What can you do for them? It's never about you. It's always about what you can do for them.
Also, as a side note: I would highly recommend editing your ActiveRain profile to add a picture of you AND make it clear what market area you serve.

If you are "farming" a particular neighbourhood, I think door knocking would garner much more results. It has always worked very well for me. That is much more personal... and usually people are very nice. You can chat with them tell them that you live in the neighbourhood and looking for new clients ..ask them if they might be thinking of selling in the near future, or if they have a friend of family member, or even a neighbour who might be thinking of moving... Try to get their email for your newsletters or other real estate information you can send them on a monthly basis.

Personal notes are just that... personal. How can I tell you how to get personal with your sphere if I don't know them? Please don't think that just because a note is handwritten it's personal.

It's hard to say without knowing what exactly you are sending... Just say something positive, preferably keeping in mind the recipients' perspective, that is, not how great YOU are, but how you could help THEM.

What's fun about a hand-written note Sonja Adams, is the fact that it's 'personal', so what is appropriate for one family or individual would not necessarily be for another. I would mention the great experience that you had seeing them find and purchase their Forever Home, and you hope that their move-in and getting settled goes smoothly. You could mention that you know their kiddos (hopefully you have their names) will enjoy their pool, and how convenient for them to have it in their own backyard, and that you know they will make many happy memories enjoying their new home. You wish them the happiest experiences there, as pictures and videos of events will last forever. Whatever is appropriate, because at this point, you are highlighting the best parts of their move and experience. Good Luck!
