I don't see as many requests for that in the showing remarks as I used to.

I leave one in an occupied house as a courtesy to the seller (or tenant), so they will know who was in the house.

Some sellers REALLY want those business cards - it indicates that a showing has occurred and when they return home, they know that no one is going to surprise them entering their home for a late showing.

However, most agents don't leave them. I heard the other day that new agents think "that's old school!"  Really? I don't think it's old school at all - it's common courtesy!

Nope.  In fact, in our region it's frowned upon... some agents feel it's tantamount to solicitation... (you know... the "if you can't manage to sell your property... please remember my name... I'm the one who showed your property three times!").

There's no rule about it but a common courtesy, and may be not so common. With lockboxes there is a record of who was there and when. I always do so sellers I made the appointment with know I was there.

It's considered a courtesy here to leave a card in an occupied home so that homeowners know the agent has been and gone. But there's no hard and fast rule about doing so. I'd say two thirds of the agents who show my propeties leave a card and I personally always do so.

Not required but in our area its considered a courteous and professional thing to do. The seller needs to know you came and showed the house..some have come home and left because they were afraid the agent was running late and hadn't come yet. Very frustrating for sellers to second guess.

I don't see it as a requirement, but it's a courtesy to owner occupied homes who want to know if the scheduled appointment actually showed.  One of the biggest complaints from sellers is that no one leaves a card.

I've often found if the home is occupied, the resident prefers to find the card. Often times I encourage an agent to leave their card in the door. It works as a sign to the resident that the showing is complete.
