I don't like them but, I will tell you that on a busier road, if there is one near a driveway of a buyer family with children, it is a bonus!

Everyone seems to be in a hurry these days and flying through neighborhoods is far less 'cool' than speedbumps!

Our speed bumps are not quite so "obvious." I can't say they have impacted home values one way or another, but in communities with lots of kids, people seem to like them.

Speed bumps may reduce the value of a home that is close to it. Every time a vehicle goes over it, you hear the noise. Especially if it's a truck with stuff that gets jolted. I showed a house in an upscale neighborhood that has a speed bump in front of it. Very annoying and very distracting.

Not sure how effective they are OR if they impact value, but I find them annoying. Like England, they are called Sleeping Policemen in Jamaica, as I recall from my trips many years ago

They slow peopledown and in my opinion have no effect on property values.in some neighborhoods they are overused and an annoyance. Some are so tall, they can damage a car that is going slowly.

I am for them Fred...otherwise traffic zooms by way too fast and that's not so safe for a neighborhood with kids and pets. It's kind of annoying at times but I'm so used to that I just slow down and enjoy the ride.

If drivers will not slow down the resulting effect is government will intervene. I don't think it has an effect in value just irritates the driver.

I think they increase safety. We live up on a mountain and our side streets are winding with no sidewalks and some people drive around here like speed demons. They could definitely be used up here, that being said I don't like them.

If you have a family with small children I think it should increase the value of properties. You do want a relatively safe place for your family.

Speed bumps are a necessary evil, drivers are always in a hurry! i live in the Bronx, and bumps are not clearly marked as the picture posted, they are black bumps that if you are not paying attention you will be jolted going through them! Annoying, but necessary!

Home is where the hearth is.

We have bunches of those in our area.  I wish they were as well marked as the photo you show.  They are often hidden in the dappled light that comes through the mature trees... and you don't notice the 'hump' until you're right up against it, with no time to slow down.

At least that one looks nice. My first thought is -- is it a drive-in or a neighborhood?

Police are the people to enforce laws & speeds. I think it is over reach on the neighbors part.

I do not believe they affect property values. If anything they may be perceived as a good thing ... perhaps adding value in terms of safety.  The visual is to let people know they are there ... no different than traffic lights or signs ... I perceive to be needed and necessary.

I think they imply there's been an issue, but they tend to be on "double yellow line streets" in San Diego. That said our HOA and many HOAs incorporate them on their private roads.

We have a lot of reverse speed dips or valleys here that bottom out speeders (and sparks fly) in and around major intersections.

Where there is a speed bump/hump or stop sign inserted, there will be residents for and against.  They are there to help keep speeders from running amuck and I see that as a postive.
