I just read the article and I think sellers will like it.  It will have the same problem with automated valuation systems and agents will have to explain why Lending Tree doesn't know the real market value of their home and will also have to explain why their equity isn't as much as they think after 6-8% selling/closing costs. But, as a tool for consumers, I think they will like it and as a lead generator for lenders I think it will get the leads for refinancing or future buys.  It is a whole new world that keeps on changing and we all need to keep up with the times and technology. -Kasey

I don't know.  I pay no attention to those companies.  

 Lending Tree rhymes with Spending Spree.  They want you to get a HELOC from them for that purpose.

Never seen it yet & now, it seems like a copy-cat scheme. Good luck with it bone-heads.

It's all about getting a piece of the leads pie for financing or refinancing.  

Will have to wait and see.

Like Zillow the data is incomplete. Algorithms can only do what is there.

There are more online tools to get one confused and it can ruin your mind and life.

Everybody has an opinion now a days! Some are fairly good and others, well maybe not!

Hopefully the margin of error is less, but it will never be as good as a physical review by a licensed professional.

I think, the best way to get the most accurate information to contact a local realtor for a free consultation. Any automated systems will provide just an estimate.

Thanks for the alert. Anything to drive traffic to a website is all this 'game' is about. Sellers need to contact licensed real estate agents for a good, dependable market valuation and avoid these sites.

I wasn't aware of it previously, thank you for the link, Roy.   It will be interesting to see if it is good for their business -- I mean that's what it's all about, right?   It's a conversation starter and a lead generation tool.   

It's a different approach and I trust none of them. None of them have ever been inside a neighborhood or a house to properly opine on value.

Can't say. I haven't compared, but I suppose they will be in the ballpark, with adjustments needed after seeing the house in real life.

Roy Kelley I don't know how it stacks up, but from a consumer standpoint they may lend more credibility to their values because they are associated with lenders. Zillow sucks in real estate agents to buy leads and Lending Tree will suck in lenders to buy leads.

I have not seen it, but should take a peek.
