You bet, they stupidly think they can change the world of real estate. Until they get hit by that first 'truck' in real estate, they think they are pretty special.
I no longer joust with them. I just smile & wait for the truck. Mind you I'm over here on the curb as I know what to expect.

I pay no attention to the "young set." I work collegially with them as needed and then watch many of them fall out of the business.

Absolutely - IMO I don't believe many really understand the way the world works and fell slighted when they "don't get their way".
Not saying, but am saying many

I know some "YOUNG" people that have a level of consciousness that defies chronological age ... and the opposite is true as well. I am not one to put people in buckets. My goal is to look at people for who they are.

yes, they do.... and they can be reprogrammed to focus on what will make the phone ring.... real estate and politics are two different mindsets...and should not be interwoven....

Most new agents don't have the wisdom to contemplate such deep thoughts. That's why they need mentoring and training and ongoing guidance. Many seasoned agents don't either. They're just making a living. Young or old, the impassioned are the ones who truly love their work and make it meaningful.

There are 2 kinds of 'younguns':
- The educated, sensible and somewhat street-smart who instinctively take to the business and can work elegantly with seasoned agents. They're usually 30s at least.
- The unwashed, barely graduated high school, functionally illiterate and combative - usually these are snowflake kids of agents. They make everyone's job tough till they get hit by Lyn Sims' truck while we're sitting on the curb watching with popcorn and a kegger. They they either get a clue or they're back to Walmart doing hair.

Annette,
This mindset is nothing new to us. We have been doing this for years! Different words do not change the concept and become new again. A

I'd say every generation has their own way of looking at things. Remember when Elvis was considered "The Devil's Music" and far too provacative?
I think a fair amount of the youngin's have a good head on their shoulders and were raised right, to expect nothing without working for it. The rest can get off my lawn!

Some of my kids, my boys are 38 and 41 and very savvy on the social media and marketing. They actually have taught me a lot and got me on board with the social media things. Also the tech savvy young Realtors will become your competition so pay attention.

Some do, some don't. I don't think we all have the same mindset either.

Nothing irks me like the REALTOR Magazine "30 under 30" and other posts that celebrate the young agents doing well in a major up-market. I wish we would spend more time celebrating the people with grey hair and calloused hands.

Of course. They haven't had our experience or training. And they bring their own ideas to the party.
4,319,419
Annette Lawrence , Palm Harbor, FL 727-420-4041 things change and we have to keep pace with the change! Definitely, the newer generation will have different ideas on how they manage the business.

I understand totally but not necessarily sure if they do or not. I think they connect with the technology and new ways of marketing (example, videos and social media). I have a sister who is 15 years younger than me and her tenacious energy is what I see in younger agents. They are definitely more willing to put themselves out there, however in my opinion, that mindset and way of thinking is just a thought adjustment away no matter what ones age is.
Cheers to the ability to alter our mindset by making the decision to just do it and encourage our continued prosperity. All the best!

It is burned into their skulls that there are beter ways to do things and many times it is by instructors that do not sell anymore

If they graduated from Snowflake University, they don't stand a chance in the real world.
3,988,007
I think they do think differently and it seems they are willing to tackle anything. That is not a bad thing at all.
