Houston has just finally reached Conroe TX. Lots of jobs have moved to the Woodlands on the north side of Houston. And the builders have gone crazy!

Wow I need to pay attention more

Saw that. When metro areas are measured that are over 1 million Oklahoma City has been No. 9.

     The Washington Free Beacon says,

     "Out of 15 cities with the largest numeric increase in population, eight were located in the South. They include San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, Charlotte, Jacksonville, and Miami.

     "The Census Bureau study underscores what we’ve known for years; Millennials, just like everyone else, flock to where the career opportunities are, and areas with vibrant and diverse free market economies are proven to have good wages and job opportunities," said David Barnes, director of policy engagement Generation Opportunity.   "Because of that, they prefer areas with fewer government-created barriers to opportunity, such as high tax rates and costly regulations."

     "Not surprisingly, a common thread among the states that are growing the quickest is that they’ve largely embraced pro-growth policies that enable new markets to develop, allowing young people to relocate," he said.  "Policymakers in other states would be wise to follow the lead by enacting similar legislation."

I can remember when Franklin MA was #1 on that list in the early 1990's.... our new construction communities were wide spread and wild....

My city is an hour and fifteen minutes from #10. What Realtor doesn't mention is the terrible traffic that comes into Nashville from #10. It's a parking lot every day.

Kasey & John Boles - we were number 5 in the country for growth in 2005 before everything crashed.  I am seeing Deja Vu all over again! 

Yes I saw this about a week ago. My area outside Chicago is one of the areas that has just marked 'even' after the crash. I was going to post about it  but haven't had the time.

No, I didn't. I don't follow news like that except as it related to the Charlotte metro area where people having been moving in droves the entire 19 years I've lived here. (I was one of them!)

I could see myself moving to # 8 or 15 sometime in the next couple of years

I don't work in any of these cities.

First off I don't really care about the survey as REal Estate is local and there are to many variables to use national data at hardly any point

I do not.  Interesting stuff. 

Bend / Redmond Oregon is a very pleasant locale, and no wonder it is popular again.

I have family in Bend, OR and Realtor friends in Fort Myers, FL

But, America's Finest City is where I call home.
