It would be a great deal for someone with the ability to move them. However the cost to move them and whether they can be saved will determine if they get knocked down or moved away

I had a land deal in the past with a home on it....sold the property to The Jesus Christ Church of Latter Day Saints (the easiest deal and smoothest land deal I've ever done, and I did many of them) ...they were going to raze the home and the purpose was to build a temple... I attempted to give it away for free.... had a buyer for it but there wasn't enough time to buy a lot to put it on....  that's not an uncommon happening when you sell land.

Well, unfortunately, we do not have anything like that here in CA. In general, i always support reuse, recycle. With the right preparations and proper home work, those can be great opportunities.

Sounds like a lot of work but there may be enough architectural moldings and resale parts to make it worthwhile.

We've seen a house-move once.  The County only allows one or two times a year for such a permit.  Quite a circus at each intersection with the Power Company, Phone Company and Cable company all getting their lines out of reach of the pieces of house going by!

My brother (a building contractor) has got houses for free; moved them onto vacant lots, then rebuilt them.    There are numerous permitting issues and bureaucratic red tape involved here in Tallahassee.  I wouldn't recommend it for the newbie or the inexperienced.

Yes I would if I could get away with it. It is so hard to find a bank to loan you that type of thing. Someone tried to do that a few years ago & missed the deadline because of the electrical permits you need to have in such a venture. Something like $3000 a disconnect & reconnect for the house to go thru a certain wattage intersection. It was pricey.

We just had one recently here & I don't know if anyone took advantage of it. One of my sellers is doing it in TN currently & has had no takers so far.

I personally wouldn't.  I think moved houses are a bit odd.  Though we have an investor fix & flipper that does it around here and we have sold his homes and we have a client who has been eying homes to move for years, she just loves the idea of it for some reason.  -Kasey

If I knew what I was doing I would go for it - my husband did a lot of research on this years ago when his parents passed and left him their MH - he considered moving it to Ca.

After all was said and done, selling it was the right thing to do
