Divorce, short sale, bankruptcy, privacy, I've had all kinds of reasons they don't want a sign.

Duplicate question and I suspect another glitch in AR--as I see at least one of these a day.

I prefer a sign; but Bob Crane and Thomas J. Nelson, Realtor, CRS et al gave some good reasons for not wanting a sign.

I think the AR Gremlins are back with producing two of the same question.

They may not want everyone to know they are selling their home and also for security reasons. The community may not have a gate and can attract unwanted crime.

In today's highly technical world, a sign on the ground is not as important as it was in the past.

There are many reasons.  Properties can still sell without a for sale sign.

I have a 1.3 million home now that does not want a sign, it was listed for 6 months with another agent and did not sell.  So now they do not want the neighbors to know it is on the market again.

I also almost never have a sign in front of distressed occupied houses.

The other questions seemed to have more answers, so I answered over there. But, security and privacy are the main reasons I'd say.  Some don't want their neighbors to know right away, though clearly they find out eventually. -Kasey

Sometimes it's a privacy thing.  You don't want your neighbors knowing what is going on in your life, or you're afraid the a-hole neighbor will try and sabotage you.

Reasons I've heard is that they don't want their neighbors to know and don't want people coming up to the door trying to see the home.

Multiple reasons why a seller would opt to not have a sign... It would not change my marketing strategies but I would clearly notate in the MLS that there is no sign for the benefit of agents that may find it confusing when arriving at a showing.

I think that they think they are keeping their neighbors in the dark. Not so; neighbors knew about the home being listed long before the listing agreement was ever signed!
