Yes. I speak the language of honesty and transparency.  It seems at times like I am speaking Martian ... and many do not understand it.

Yes, I speak several... Russian, German, French. Used to be quite fluent in Mandarin but with no practice in 45 years, I've lost it.

Yes - Russian and Polish natively; studied French and some German, now seriously working on Spanish and practicing it in Miami.  Love reading Russian literature in the original - it is not really translatable, the language is so rich. Have used my languages in business, but not much. When I was an executive at Citibank, the HR "computer" identified me as a Polish speaker; management asked me to go to Warsaw, Poland to open and head up a Citibank office there. It was very tempting, but did not fit into my husband's career, so we did not go. Languages are great for identifying with a culture, at any level (local girls, merchants, business associates and so on). 

Nathan Gesner I lived in Germany and took German in high school. My Wife is German. Can't hold a conversation, but can understand a little. I also grew up where my grandparents spoke Polish. Don't remember much anymore.

I was fluent in spanish many (many, many) years ago but I've lost most of it. Currently learning ASL.

French and Flemish (Belgian)  Hardly every use it, only to talk to my family without the kids understanding.  :)

My parents used to speak Italian when they did not want the kids to know what they were saying, LOL. When I took French in high school, I begin to understand the similarities in the romance languages. So if you speak Spanish, French or Italian around me, I may understand what you're saying. 3:)

Took German in high school for 4 years and had 2 years in college.  I cannot say I remember much at all.

I wrote a post a while back Nathan Gesner that I know about 20 languages: DOS, Win 95, 98, xp, etc. etc.

I speak some French but it's much better when I am there! I learned some Italian for our trips, and a little Portuguese for a trip to Sao Paulo. It's all so easily forgotten and I can understand them better than I can speak them.

Spanish. I learned it through classes in school, then I spent a semester abroad taking classes in all Spanish in Salamanca Spain and then for years I was part of a Spanish book club here in Boise that read novels in Spanish and then discussed them in Spanish. I quit that when I had kids, it was too much but I miss it. My daughter is going to a dual language school (Spanish) so I use it a little there and that is fun. My degree was in biblical Hebrew and Greek, not conversational, just dead reading language, but I don't use that much at all now and have forgotten a lot of it.-Kasey

As a New Year resolution I vowed to learn Spanish this year.  I'm using www.duolingo.com.  I love it, and it's free.

Pig Latin  and I use it with my 9 year old grandson! My daughter pretends she doesn't know what we are saying so it's our secret language!

With a name like MUNDT, you can probably guess that I can speak a very small amount of German, Nathan Gesner.  I took 2 years in high school and that was the end of my real exposure.  Using it typically involves family ...  one brother trying to out-remember the other as to German terminology.  Nothing beyond that ...

Spannish but not as fluent as I used to be. I used to dream in it!  I learned it while living in Mexico. I also know a bit of French which is similiar. And yes I do use it here in AZ just not that often anymore.

Hi Nathan - I speak Spanish, which I learned during my time in the Peace Corps in Venezuela. We learned by total immersion and I didn't speak anything but Spanish for 2 years, so I was pretty fluent (I used to dream in Spanish on occasion). But that was 45 years ago, and I don't get to use it enough anymore, so I'm pretty rusty. But after a couple of days in a Spanish-speaking country, I'm always amazed at how much I remember.

Speaking a foreign language is a highly prized skill. Four years of French in college, but don't ask me to speak it now!

I often think I should go back and learn Spanish, as we have so many residents in CO that speak Spanish.

On a planned business trip to Brazil, I took a crash course in Spanish.

That did not work out well on many levels.

A following trip to Europe and Russia included a crash course in RUSSIAN.

That did work well.

Today I can not say a complete sentence in either language.
