It depends where you are... in some states there is no role, in others it's a primary role. 

EVERYTHING. First here in NH, our MLS has a standard state for. It is the agents job to know it, fill out, be able to explain it, get it signed and present it for the other party to sign making an offer a contract

We use Bar forms for both NC & SC - we review them with the clients, fill them out together and instruct them where to sign.

Corey Christiansen In my State the agent fills out the contract and any Amendments or Addendums to it.

We apply those yellow stickies to the state provided standard contract that indicates "write here' or 'sign here."

And when the client turns to page 4, 5 and 6  (no yellow stickies) which are a complete waterfall of words, and asks, "What's this about?" that is when the role becomes more apparent.

What is the 'effective date' and how 'contingency period' is measured tend to add a little more dimension to the role the agent plays.

I could go on all day, but I'll smile at the yellow sticky analogy, if that is what you want to believe.

the people on my team fill in the blanks on a standard greater boston real estate board contract....then it's sent to the attorneys....they make changes and sometimes do their own contract ....

We basically fill in the blanks based on what the client asks us to do.

Brings the pens and the contract.  Fills in the blanks.  Highlights where to sign.  Sends requests for revisions to the state.

In AZ agents do write the contract and have been doing so for many, many years.

In CT, agents can fill in the blanks, but there is a mandatory 5-day review period for attorneys.

In CA the agents complete the contract ... filling them out completely and clients sign.
