Is this a serious question? They are important because they exist. They are important because if you act in violation of them you might have a bit of a problem and then some.

If you need to ask this question, real estate may not be the best field for you.

jail time may not be as bad now as it was decades ago.... three balanced meals; a library and a gym.... what more do you need...

Just know that they are important. The law is there for a reason. Do you really want to break any laws. 

Because if you intend to stay of of court and jail you will follow the law, state, local or federal.

The state is hands on while the feds just blanket the area

We don't have any states in our great nation so we don't have any state laws.

Real estate is local. States issue RE licenses not the federal government. Federal laws, state laws and local city and municiple laws must all be adhered to.

Fair Housing and Lead paint disclosure are federal laws. Most everything else is state and local.

State laws augment Federal laws as they may apply on a State level. Since they are passed into law by the State Legislature, they can be just as important.

It is more specific to the needs of the local region.

Because they dictate how I operate my business.
