I think the people driving on the sidewalks, may not know how to read the signs!

Another example of being treated as people who need the government to tell us what we can and cannot do.

In Oklahoma I only drive on the sidewalk if I have to.

I think it is for all those youngsters who are out joyriding in their parents' cars.

well, I'd venture to guess that many have done that and the sign was necessary.... sad...

Someone thinks they should...We have signs about not parking on the railroad tracks.  

Maryland doesn't need these signs, but Virginia probably does.

Evidently they have a problem up there with that. I know in some neighborhoods people park on the sidewalks.

I live in California, nothing surprises me.  

Probably because of a lawsuit that it is there.  We have do not pass snowplows on the right.  Both seem like common sense to me.  Mark

PS...I will add my more cynical answer also.  That if some idiot were to be driving on the sidewalk, hit a pedestrian, we would most likely see both in court sueing whatever powers they could stating there was nothing telling them they could not drive on the sidewalk.  Even worse, seemingly they would stand a 50/50 chance of winning a lotery type payoff from the judicial system and jury that even will listen to that BS for one moment.

We don't drive on sidewalks here in North Carolina!  Someone had to have done it though, (hence the sign)!

We never had those signs when I was growing up in Virginia!
