Sort of. I came out of college very young (began at 15 yrs old!) and was told over and over I'd not ever be hired in my chosen field because I was A) too young B) too pretty and C) FEMALE! Remember, this was the 70's
One kindly old CEO advised me to learn to type and come in at entry level. So I did, and was hired as a Secretary to the Manager of the Mortgage Dept in a large bank. After 4 weeks I was called in to the office and given the choice of being fired or promoted. He felt I needed a secretary more so than I could be one! I took the latter obviously and became the very first female Mortgage Development Officer in the City.

Yes.
In 1979 or 1980 I worked as a receptionist at a relatively small branch of a French company. I was there for a few months and one of my responsibilities was to send telexes as needed. Sometimes the telexes took 1/2 hour to type and then hours to send (email is fabulous!). Anyway, the comptroller came out and asked me to send one - she asked at 4:55 when my ride, another employee, was waiting for me to get finished up. So I asked my ride to wait for 1/2 hour or so, and I typed it up and sent the telex to Western Union and set up their "send" service to send to the 4 places it needed to go that night.
I came in the next morning and found out the "mother company" didn't get the telex - and I also found out Western Union only tried a certain number of times before they canceled the sending.
I got fired that day for not sending the info to that specific location. Apparently, they needed a scapegoat because whatever the info was was very important.
See, 36 years later and that still annoys me! I don't think it helped or hindered me. I just went on and got my next job. I think I temped at two locations and then went on to Ethan Allen where I worked for a year, and then the "phone company" where I worked for 30 years and then on to real estate.
Actually, maybe it did help me - it got me out of a dead end job and eventually into some much better jobs.

I was fired over a difference of opinion. That got my butt in gear, and now I have a career in real estate.

I was asked to leave our office after having an arguement about mgmt style with my old broker. Best thing that EVER happened to me. Didn't seem like it at the time but it was. She also awarded my coming commissions to another agent in the office & I had to sue in court to get what was due. I did win & I'm not sure what motive was behind it. Would you want to work for her?

Never fired, but did walk off 2 past positions, since promises from management were not kept. Definitely toughened me up to stand my ground.

I was fired for the first and only time in November 2014-right before Thanksgiving-It was devasting and then it was frightening, then liberating and frightening again. I have held at least 2 jobs from the day I turned 16-I have been promoted at every job, this last one was office politics. I had 1 bad review was on probation, told that I had ,made the necessary improvements, but probation would continue through January. My boss actually said "I don't want you to think I am just doing this so I can take my 3 week vacation I have been planning, you won't be let go when I get back" This should have been a massive red flag-2 days after her vacation I was let go, because I was no longer performing well. Not 1 Verbal warning, not 1 write up 1 bad review, no follow up-
Now I am in Real Estate and I am so thankful my boss fired me!

Have I ever been fired?
By a client? No.
Fired a client? Not really.
Been fired when on a W-2 status with someone buying my time? Yes.
ONCE was a RIF, so maybe not an actual firing.
Another was caught in a great transgression and needed to remove the witness.
Help or hinder. Today I can say it helped. At the time that would not be the word I would use.
