Corinne,

The aesthetic of the home page is not pleasing to our eyes.  In our opinion from a design stand point, there are too many colors.  The photos are out of focus once enlarged.  We too stay away from the home page, and just go to the featured posts tab, or the daily drop.

I don't like the home page at all - too chaotic and busy looking. Featured photo's still too huge.

Corrine, I really like to offer my full support to the ActiveRain bosses, but I spend as little time on the home page now as possible.  I do like the way the list popular posts somewhere toward the side or bottom of the page.  But the featured posts are just too in your face.

I rarely see the Homepage, my site is bookmarked in Chrome, so I open directly to the sign-in page 99% of the time. I search Featured when I want to read them. I do like the home page though, if you are featured, you're REALLY featured there!

I read from the home page.

I believe the plan/thoughts Bob had (esp from some of the feedback) was to make them smaller and also have more on the page.

One courageous AR member identified the home page as amateurish at best, a few weeks ago.

Ben, has a plan, and unless you have been asked, he will move forward with what he has in mind. The intent, as was shared months ago, is for AR to become a content authority. Of course, that means agents supply the content.

Have you noticed how this change in direction has changed participation in AR sections such as Q & A and the newbie blogs.

I do not spend even a fraction of a second on the home page and no longer review the featured blogs.

As you mentioned, if you don't like the new home page design, one can still get a similar look to the old design in the blogs area by sorting as featured. Here is the quick link to that:

http://activerain.com/bloghome?search_query%5Btopic_slug%5D=&since=2016-10-14&filter=featured

I'm sorry you're not a fan. After we redo the profiles and the blog pages, we'll circle back and make some tweaks to the home page design. That being said, It is highly unlikely that it would return to the previous design.

Thank you for the feedback that every has left here and in other places. We are not ignoring it and our designers and the rest of the team are all directed to posts like this to read through and get a sense for how people feel.

Something we've never done before is 'use driven development'. Where we analyze exactly what people click on and how they use the site to try to improve it. That's become our focus as we design different elements of the site. So if there is a massive drop in the engagment on the home page (or even a small drop), we'll know about it and we'll make adjustments.

Again, thanks for starting the discussion Corrine.
