I used to have two pictures of "older" women in my office - one was of a woman in a cafe in Paris lunching with a friend. They were obviously enjoying each other's company and they were laughing. Two very elegant French women. I also had a picture of the very well regarded woman in Texas who is still going strong at nearly 100 running her real estate company. I posted the two pictures over my desk to remind myself why I was working - so I could retire to a French cafe but over time I have realized I actually like the lady in Texas and am probably like the lady in Texas.

While I've been to a bunch of memorial services for Realtors, I've never been to a retirement party. 

I'll never fully retire..... I haven't been actively beating the pavement listing for 12 years....and I don't care to ever list another home.... I changed my job description to marketing for the those who needed marketing...I get a referral fee on all listings and any buyer referral.... and they are all the "top dogs" in my town....

Some days I talk of retirement, other days I know that a funeral may be involved when I do.

I don't think it just Real Estate for me.  What ever profession I am in I will most likely continue to work a bit.  I would go nuts otherwise.  Mark

Tony, I do have an exit plan but, honestly don't see myself ever retiring fully - I absolutely, postively LOVE what I do and when I have slow days or am away for longer than a few days, I'm dying to get back to work!

No Tony Lewis, my dreams and reality currently seem to be 'on the same page'.  I never actually think of retiring, though many relatives who are younger than I am, have retired.  Our lifestyles are not the same - I like working!  I think you are just not ready, and still enjoying it . . .  I hear that!!

People retire when they have enough money so they can do other things that they enjoy. I have the first and I'm doing the second, so I guess you can call me retired but still working.
