A philosophical question in the "Just for Fun" section, what a refreshing change! Had to read the question a couple of times and my thought is no one has to agree to disagree, the DISagreement exists whether agreed to or not, and in many situations total disagreement would mean NOT agreeing in any degree.

 If confusion is a step to knowledge, I am a genius.  

It's been a long week, Wanda... I just can't wrap my mind around this question! 

I've been known to say to certain people "We will disagree unless you change your mind." 

It sort of depends on what you are talking about.  But I've noticed a few brave bloggers posting about their opinions on the presidential campaign - and while what you are saying certainly applies, at least in part, it's seeming like a rather dangerous subject to write about or even to read about!

I find your questions a little confusing.  But sometimes I find there is no point in explaining my point of view so I leave it go.

Wanda, funny I should find your question just at this moment in time! I was thinking that when a question is posed, it is because people are wondering what others have to say about it. 

That may be true in some cases.

But in other cases I think it is because the asker wants to convince as many people as possible that he/she has the ONLY right answer. Of course the answer they have is not apparent when the question is asked, it comes up as an admonishment when you do answer the question! 

I agree to disagree with anyone. I don't agree to having my answer scrutinized and basically told I am wrong!

I can agree with some points in an stance I disagree with.  If we are on opposite sides of an issue, we'll have to agree to disagree.

I believe I agree to often to disagree.  

And despite what some people think, compromise is not necessarily a bad thing.

I tend to default to agree to disagree.  Unless it is a life or death situation I'd rather not debate things.  Life is too short to get all tangled up in the cobwebs ...

It's healthy to disagree with others, and it is certainly nice to agree with them, too. You don't have to "agree to disagree" but you should RESPECT another person's RIGHT to their own opinions and beliefs. This does not mean you accept them or that you condone them, just that they are what they are. Not really sure if this answers the question properly!

I am a bit confused by your question like Ken Jones .  Ron and I disagree on some things (I like herring and he doesn't) (he likes peanut butter with celery, and I don't).  I know I am citing simple things, however, different points of views with friends are just fine.  We will remain friends no matter what.  A

when we disagree, we disagree and do not need to agree to do that... it is what it is....it can be done professionally and not rudely or in an insulting manner....  there are times when we disagree and with some negotiating, we will agree to a small degree....
