Boy this is on every home inspection of mine for the last 3 years it seems.
Adding an electric line to an existing circuit breaker with possible overload.

Lyn Sims and Wayne Martin have the correct answer.
As for my take it should be on a keg to cut down the line for a beer!

It's why they put two notches on the edge of each breaker, so that you can give it a double purpose.
But the inspectors do not like this so it is best to just use one notch and go buy another breaker for any expansions in your system.

Greetings,
A "Double Tap" is two wires / two different electrical circuits to one breaker that is not rated for two wires. Normally an easy fix for an electrician.

You are building a home and get frustrated. Off to the tavern and ask for a double tap. One will not do.

It is a term used when talking about electrical wires that piggyback onto another circuit. This usually isn't a good practice.

I like Lyn Sims have been seeing this on several inspection reports for my buyers! It's adding an electric line to an existing circuit breaker and can cause overloading!
