Extinguishers, way too long. I have several of them and a few are in the red. They still function and are good for bedrooms and secondary areas where fires don't often occur (that was the recommendation we gave at the Fire Department). Some fire stations may recharge them for you and there are companies that will come to you. Keep a fully charged one in the laundry and kitchen (most likely fire areas). Garage too.
As to fire - mine are hard wired into my security system.
CO: Just bought them a month ago and they are plugged into a wall outlet and have a backup battery.

Thanks Sandy Padula and Norm Padula, JD, GRI NMLS#1483386 for the heads up! I know we just threw out our old kitchen extinguisher which thankfully we never had a need for but that doesn't mean we won't ever - time to replace it.

I'm good about the smoke and co detectors but awful on the fire extinguishers, it's a good thing I don't cook.

Annually change the batteries and the monitors themselves tell me when I need to replace the fixture itself. However, you nailed me on the fire extinguishers. I have a few around, but haven't quite checked the date of when I bought them. Great idea! Thank you!

We check these things when we change smoke detector batteries. We had a rental house that burned and don't want to go through another fire or catastrophe like that.

Believe it or not, I was just thinking about checking my extinguisher. I might go ahead and get another anyway for backup.
I'm good on the other things you mentioned.

You know about fire exting. - when I moved my Dad he had 5 that were old, dusty & crusty. I just knew they wouldn't work because of the dust. One was in the original box which of course would be an asset in a fire .
Dropped them at the fire station.
In IL it's the law for C02 detectors & still there are people without them when I list their homes.

Many fire departments recommend changing smoke detector and CO detector batteries when you change the clocks twice a year.

The fire extinquisher gets put close to the X-mas tree every year; batteries scream when they need help.

Checking them is part of my "spring forward, fall back" routine. The fire extinguisher is under the kitchen sink--and I hope it gets to remain there without ever being used.

I have distinguishers but the real strength is we have many exits out of the home not to mention very little risk for calamity. Know your home & self!

My batteries are goo. But no fire extinguishers around. Had them in one house for years, moved them to the next house and when we moved 10 years ago, left them behind. Never used them.
