How many pages did you search into Google? And how many pages into AR? Your problem is probably due to the fact that a ton of people have written about HOAs. Yours are lost in the pile somewhere. The more specific a search, the more likely you are to find something you wrote, but that is true of everyone else's work as well. So just searching "hoa" will probably never bring up your results on Google because companies/sites with far better SEO will always come up first. But a targeted question about HOAs might lead to something you wrote about surprisingly high on the list.

Your Active Rain posts are short. The wording does not flow as one would write an article or post. Phrases are repeated in each and in the links. If I was a bot I would ssee as duplicate content. Paying for Active rain doesn't imporve your ranking it just allows post to be public. You could blog or post on free sites with the same results.

Joe Public doesn't use HOA as a search term I hope you know.
tags vs keywords - you'll have to investigate them because I'm not sure G pays attention to them any longer. Read up on SEO advice here to help you.

Use Long Tail Keywords. "HOA" is too broad of a term.
Also, before searching, clear your cache using a tool like CCleaner.com
Finally, be sure to search using Bing as well as Google.

Ditto what Chrissi Chapman Topoleski says - I see 4. There are some good suggestions below - not sure I can add more except there needs to be more content (some posts are too short), and HOA itself is too broad a keyword

You want to make sure you are using keywords that buyers will use when searching for what you want them to read. Use those keywords in your title and in your posts.
How many posts have you written? You can't expect results overnight. It does take some time.

Be very specific when you write about HOAs. Using the neighborhood with it will get you found and get you calls. I get a call a week in regards to HOAs in my area because I include information about them in every neighborhood blog post.

There are a gazillion posts about HOAs, and I'm guessing there is a bit of competition for Google's attention.

How are you title your blog makes a big difference in how you rank. Go to Google keywords and search for phrases on topics you would like to write about. Your blog should be at least 900-1500 words and have great content. When you search on Google, make sure you are searching incognito, otherwise you will not get a true search. Time, time, time is also key here.

Jill, if you just search for "HOA" on google, you'll never find your blog. Too large of a haystack for a couple of needles. There are many factors that go into google rankings.
I searched "jill schweitzer hoa" and received 39,700 results
"hoa" 336 MILLION results.
Try searching for the title of your blog. Tags don't mean anything to the outside world, just for internal classifications, near as I can tell.
According to Bob Stewart, Active Rain receives between 500-1000 blogs on a daily basis. Getting Google to index all of those takes time.

You really need to inject a unique value proposition and approach your posts from a comletely original viewpoint and load the posts with lots of hyperlinked videos, etc.

May need to be more specific, like "HOAs is Stevens Point" or "Jill Schweitzer HOAs".

Seems to me a HOA a big subject and you would need to be more specific like everyone has said. Break it down to the exact city for Local Search and local easier to rank for than Global.
I rank for keywords in two local areas Detroit, and Austin.
In Scotsdale Arizona right, HOA for Scotsdale Az Tips or whatever your trying to achieve. Do some keyword research before writing a post.
That's about it. Jill Schweitzer

I think you have your answer. Mainly, use a lot of tag words and think more broad in terms!
1,772,017
Jill Schweitzer are you also posting them on Google+, a short link and a photo?
This is key.
