I do my classes online; this way I can stop and attend to things if necessary, I can walk around, I can get up, refill my water glass and go to the bathroom...and most importantly, I don't have to listen to self-important people drone on and on about their experiences and how they solved problems A, B & C.
It saves a lot of time.

Never anymore. I do everything webinar or read at my own pace. I absolutely hate sitting their all day in a hotel basement.

Very rarely. I would get a bit stir crazy sitting all day in class. Half day max. I find repetitive questions or totally irrelevant questions get in the way of truly enjoying a class. There are always those few you want to apply duct tape to across their mouth....

Probably 1 - 2 times a year for CRS classes. And the Sellabration conference. Definitely well worth the time for learning and networking

All of our CE courses are now online - it has been many many years since I was forced to endure a full day of class.

As a Mortgage Broker, we need 8 hours of CE classes a year. I do the webinar once a year and it takes the whole day. I don't mind it, since I think it is a good refresher course. What bothers me more is the State Audits and getting fingerprinted 5 times in the last 15 years! Last time I had to do it, I called the State of Illinois and their response was that they don't keep my fingerprints! Really!! Where did they go??

I don't think of real education as evil. Some mandatory meetings on the other hand...
Most continuing education classes I take are online. I'll take others to learn and not for credit.

It's evil I tell you, very evil - I only do so when I absolutely MUST - such as the ethics class.

Necessary evil. To be truthful, I love learning. I'm like a sponge. I like to soak in as much as I can. My beef is with the instructors and the class participants! Instructors will veer of course, tell too many personal stories, or will try to be funny and entertaining when they are not, etc. Then you have that one participant who ask questions ALL the time dragging the subject matter in all different directions. Then the class ends with the last 15 minutes turning into a speed class because the teacher needs to fit everything in for it to be legit for CE hours...SMH.

CE, which I have no choice about, I break up into two morning sessions. Other education that I have opted for if it's a full day I'm assuming up-front it's a good use of my time since I signed up.

Our local Board does a pretty good job of making continuing ed interesting. I recently did all of my required Maryland coursework in one day and it wasn't terrible.

Debbie,
We have done half days, not full days. It really depends on the classes. The ones I loved best were the UCLA economic forecasts. They had a lot to offer and could do it in two hours. A

Debbie Reynolds we've been around quite a while and put the classroom hours in at the start of our career. I even did the 10 week Floyd Wickman Sweathogs program. No one attended more seminars and classes than me for the first 10 or so years of my career. We now learn so much online and in webinars that classes are no longer needed. The only office meeting I attend are when our company attorney shows up. We have paid our dues. CAR offers us great webinars so training really never ends the the method of learning has changed quite a bit.

Not too often. It truly depends on the topic and the instructor. I'll spend all day in a class regarding contract updates. My biggest challenge is holding still for a full day! LOL!
1,546,934
Never, if I can avoid it! Of course if the topic or location is good, that's another story all together! If it's for CE's I prefer to take the exams online (you only need to take an exam in Cali, not sit through a class).

Debbie Reynolds - it is a necessary evil! Though I have rarely spent a full day for CE classes. I usually attend 2-4 CE credits whenever possible and available from vendors/sponsors.

Both Debbie Reynolds . I've always been a firm believer in continuing education and self improvement. That's one of the main reasons I joined AR.

3 - 5 days per year, it is what you make it, some make it a good use of their time, others decide not to.
3,448,581
I do most of my education online Debbie.
If it is an exceptional class ... it would be a great use of my time to sit in a class all day.
2,874,398
Its as much fun as traffic school or from what I remember, staying after-school...Sitting in one place all day? That's a prison & punishment

Debbie Reynolds Anytime you can learn something, it is not a waste of time.

Usually 3-6+ times per year, but it depends on what it's for. It's worth it if it's something I'm interested in. I do take some CE classes online as well.

I'm about to spend several days on the computer for the Hawaii continuing ed and CORE classes to renew my Brokers license in Hawaii. They expire every two years. I always learn something new and it's a necessary evil. Walk-in classes? Not if I can help it.
1,658,108
I wanted to take International Certification, but it is 3 full days in class. I'm not sure I can handle so much, i'd be destructing myself by checking my phone.... All my edu needs i'm taking online these days.

I usually attend a class at least once a month. Not always a full day - Doesn't leave time for much else. I enjoy most of the hours I spend learning new information to apply as I meet more clients.

I don't do it unless it is required. I feel like most of the time it is a necessary evil.

Usually my education classes are only a half-day, i.e., 3 hours. It is either a morning or an afternoon class Debbie Reynolds. Interesting classes are always a good use of time, and I enjoy either a refresher course or learning something new. The hardest classes are the ones with no participation, even when the instructor asks questions, or a boring instructor . . . Fortunately, boring material can be brought to life with a good instructor.
