I was just asking two of our clients about this.  They just assume that they are being recorded and caution their buyers of the fact.  A

I complained to the listing agent who told me it was part of the security system and to just deal with it; however there were no warning signs saying video surveillance was being employed. It must be posted or turned off while a tour is in progress. 

Interesting video Jeff. I knew you had to disclose to people that they were under surveillance. I wonder how many time people selling homes do it in an illegal way?

I warn my Buyers to expect that they're being recorded and to keep their thoughts to themselves until we have assured privacy.

Yes several times and I do alert my buyer clients to not make comments and to be aware of the cameras. 

The expectation is that there will be video and or audio recording at almost all properties I may show and sell. This understanding is related to potential Buyers so as not to reveal through their discussion any price or terms they may be considering while inside the home. Most houses display a notice near the points of entry. 

Run into Video but not audio surveillance. We acted normal just didn't discuss house until away from home.

There is a lot of video surveillance these days, but audio is illegal without informing the people being listened to.  

A few higher end properties have had video and no audio - it is what it is

have not ever run into this.....  but it's not a bad idea with some of the stories I've heard about today....

I watched this video & I think it's a good idea to assume that you are. Doesn't bother me - I don't have a big brother complex.

In some homes it's pretty obvious. I basically warn my clients to assume we are being recorded and to be circumspect with any comments inside the home... unless of course, we have a message we really want to deliver to the home owner ! Our association has asked listing agents now to alert showing agents either in mls or in a note in the home if there is surveillance in the home.

Many people monitor their properties for a variety of reasons.

Yes, I actually look for it now.  When I find an camera, I smile and wave.

Yes, but then, I always show a home expecting it and respect the homeowner's space.

Being surrounded by so many government agency workers in this area, I assume all listings have some sort of surveillance. 

Only the Ring video doorbells.  I just smile & wave and watch what I say.

Yes, I have seen such equipment and it's typically accompanied by a sign and/or mentioned in the mls agent only remarks.   

The last time I ran into this was last week. We were told we were being recorded which is what needs to happen. I don't really care.....if I am with buyers I just make sure they know about it and not say much at all.  Don't want to play our cards for sure. 

Jeff, I operate under the "assumption" that I am on video and audio surveillance at all times.  I tell my clients while in a home not to discuss anything ... hold thoughts until we are outside and in the care. 

As far as I know ... I have not run into it.  

I did have clients many years ago that had cameras in the home. 

Advise buyers of the possibility.

Jeff...I visited our cities tech center. They have cameras everywhere and can track you in the city as you go. Then, personal surveillance's kick in. This is here to stay and is going to get even more intense but less obvious

On homes i list with it, i do post warning signs per the law for audio and signs for cameras as it is the right thing to do

I just do what I normally do when showing a home when on surveillance.

I have.  Scarred me for life.  I always encourage us to save any "real content" for outside regardless of the home but knowing I had been video taped AND audio-ed was a gross violation in my book.

Agents should advise their clients to assume that there is surveillance.

Yes. I just assume all houses have photo or video monitoring in place. i don't worry about it.

Jeff Dowler CRS - yes - on couple of listings recently that I showed it to my buyers. Simple alarmed buyers not to say anything in the house.

No but way to get me paranoid.  normally when I am fixing or showing I have some tunnel vision and not looking for nanny cams that I am sure are there. 

I have not had to deal with that, but I need to make sure my buyer's don't make videos of a house they are looking at without the permission of the homeowner.

Haven't heard that either has made it way to western PA yet.
