Not at all. I think some people are sure to get featured because of who they know (and I don't know who you need to know), but really good quality content with widespread appeal is what will get you featured.

Great question funny part is there is a "secrecy oath" taken by all ambassadors so even if they knew the answer they will not share it with you because that will jeopardize their ability to get Featured:))Just kidding, what do I know I am just a Rainmaker but a successful Realtor in Beverly Hills,CA:))

Perception, not reality. Frankly our Tuesday's Ask An Ambassador posts have a better than average change of being featured, just like Kathy's Sunday posts and Pat's Sunday posts. People look for them and expect them and they're giving back to the community. The same for some of the Ambassadors who regularly write posts that are aimed at giving back to the community. Outside of that, it's a roll of the dice for the Ambassadors just like anyone else.

This one made me laugh out loud. There is nothing that 'guarantees' a feature. As a general rule, featured posts are posts that benefit the community, have widespread community interest, teach something that is beneficial . . . no telling what gets featured, but there tends to be a common thread . . . and sometimes it's just plain good ol' human interest. But Ambassadors have no 'feature preference' over anyone else.

You would think the feature status was created to instill turmoil and angst! It has to be the most talked about feature of the entire platform.
Concentrate on writing blog posts that will make your phone ring and your inbox sing - that's the best benefit of ActiveRain. If you get Star Status, that's just a cherry on top but be prepared to reply to hundreds of comments on that post - as they say, be careful what you wish for!

LOL. Not Really! I have seen great quality posts not selected as Featured that had been written by Ambassadors. Posts that are beneficial for the whole community are the ones that normally get selected as Featured, especially if it's a success story about the benefits of blogging.

Yes, okay I'm kidding. I found the question amusing. Thinking about the features this week I think three were 1st or 2nd posts. No guarantees around here.

As Bill Liz and Bill Spear answered there are certain weekly/regular posts that seem almost guaranteed to be featured because they are well-written and recognized as a part of AR. Beyond that --- it's anybody's guess and that may be part of the formula(guessing).

I think the perception is there because lots of featured posts are written by Ambassadors. But, more importantly, are a higher percentage of Ambassador posts featured than non-Ambassador posts? In other words, if I write 100 posts, can I expect I'll get the same number of features as an Ambassador would out of 100 posts? I think not.
Ambassadors, as part of their "job" description are expected to write posts to help the community which is what features are supposed to recognize.

All I know is i could not get a feature if I fell on it. Funny how i have not seen a feature since answering a queston with my opinion regarding changes on AR? I know features dont make us money but it does sting to be left off the page

There are no guarantees at all. It has a lot to do with chance. I have seen some terrific posts writen by Ambassadors and Rainmakers that didn't get featured. I have seen some get featured that caused me to scratch my head.
On another note, many Newbie posts get featured if they are good. Are they formated perfectly, have an expose' of photos or easy to read? Usually not but they have CONTENT that the community can benefit from seeing. That is the magic ingredient.

There are no guarantees just because you are Ambassador that will guarantee featured posts.

No guarantees, but I think that most of the Ambassadors are strong writers and know how to get their message across to other members, which equals more featured posts.

No, they are usually featured because they give good general info that everyone can benefit from.
I can see how you might think that way. Up your game so that you'll be included.
