Well, success is a matter of 1) good content and 2) developing relationships so people want to read what your write. But:
1) I like to write my posts in a word processor and copy and paste over. Easier for me, but you may prefer to type directly in AR.
2) Have someone (who you believe is a good writer themselves) read your post, particularly longer ones, at least for awhile. Editors and proofreaders can be a godsend.
3) Paste into ActiveRain (not relevant if you typed here)
4) Check formatting--AR is a bit finnicky at times. Make sure your fonts are the same size, that your bold/italics/underline are all there, etc.
5) Click "Preview". Check out what your page looks like. Look right? Awesome. No? See point 4.
6) Add tages, SEO description, etc. What's your post about? What are relevant keywords? Enter that all here
7) Hit post
8) Read it again. Did something weird happen with formatting that you didn't catch in preview? If so, click update.
9) When people comment, like and comment back when you can/it is appropriate. This builds those connections I mentioned above so these posts can keep getting better.
10) If people give good advice in those comments sections, here, etc. incorporate into your writing. If your writing does not involve, you are at risk of falling behind!
