Important and even if it wasn't, why take any chances that your listing is fully described?
Cocoa Beach, FL
It is very important. It IS read. You can be sure your seller is going to read it, so make it good!

It is everything! It needs to be detailed, it needs to be written for SEO, it needs to be truthful. The written is going to carry through to many third-party websites, it is the same write-up you will use on your blog posts and social media sites.

It's VERY important. This is being read by consumers many of whom look by themselves first, THEN contact an agent. The copy should mirror the excitement of the photos.

Very important as others before have said. You are representing the seller who expects you to write accurate description that will showcase their property in the best light.

If I had the choice I would take the write up
Try something like this at the last sentance.
"Find the Red Rooster, and take the FREE community calendar about Falcon Falls Estates."
A full service real estate agent will be at the house when the buyers arrive with their agent. You can observe them when the 'see' the red rooster and what they do as a result. Then you will understand, if your writing was not dry as toast, they read every word.
I think it showcases the lifestyle of the home and the area.
I think the mls description is the most important piece of ad writing one does with a listing.
I read them. There is a lot of comedic humor in reading them. It's like bloopers on steroids.
That said, I feel the description is very important ... it needs to tell a story and invite people in.
I have to say photos and a great MLS write up makes the difference. People do read them.
Very important to make people appreciate the photographs and show the property!
I wish agents read them with care. I get easily frustrated by phone calls with questions that are answered in the write up.
It is important.
I think it's important though not always the procurring cause - many buyers are more visually oriented these days.
After all, Emojis are now popular aren't they?
A picture is worth a thousand words...or so I'm told...
A correct description is very important.
It is indeed very important not Melissa
I suspect that the most important thing on the mls is the price and location.
Yes they get read. Photos need to be good and the write up needs to sell the features and set realistic expectations for any showings.
I hope the buyers read them. As an agent, I read them.
It is super important and can get you SEO placement. Choose your words carefully and your property will be found.
Our MLS transmits the listing to third party sites and we all know how much the consumers love those. So I do think the write up is important.
I know people read them. Can be useful when written properly.
I think it is very important, pictures are nice but a well written and complete MLS listing. I think it is a kiss of death on a house if the info is incorrect or incomplete. Write it well and go back and check it before publishing.
Yes it is very important and you do want your seller to be reading what you have to say about their home. This is an area you can make a difference!! Trust me they read what you have to say as well as look at the photos!
I think photo's first and then they read the description. It is very important.
Since the write up and the photos carry through to so many websites, I would say it is just as important as the photos. An interested party will want to read about the home as well as browse the pics.
I think it's very important and I know that it's read.
VERY!!! Agents read it and it gets pushed out to other websites. Sellers and buyers read it.
Important to fill in the gaps left wide open by the MLS default choices.
I think these days photos may be more compelling but depends on the property. One can't assume so the write should be a great one with a compelling story and no typos. And of course if the photos are crappy buyers may depend on the write-up
I think it is very important, pictures for sure.
Melissa Marro The write up is important. It is a synopsis of the properties highlights.
I go straight to the specs . . . and it's frustrating how few agents fill in that information completely (or at all). We have too few mandatory form fields.
The description and the photos are both important as part of the marketing of the property.
Relevant & revealing to all...Standard of care applies
The compliance dept staff reads every word and I periodically contact them for violations. Even neighborhood photos are copied from other agents listings. Descriptions: 6000 ac lot, commission $3 etc. Many agents can not spell. Qant a quok sall.... Truly reflecting poor professionalism.
Most agents write the remarks for other agents but it should be written for the consumers who will be reading it.
