I know of a few in my market, including one facing federal prison time for loan fraud.

It's funny, when agents act weird and something seems really wrong, I'll look them up and often find they have some kind of violation, suspension or their license has been restricted or previously revoked.

The only Broker/Agent I know who lost his license lost it because an unscrupulous family member had him deemed incompetent so he could steal his business and everything he owned (which he did). That Broker was 90 years old and sharp as a tack when it came to RE but his short term memory was pretty bad.

Two property managers who commingled funds. 

One real estate agent who lied about continuing education and got caught by the DBPR/Florida Real Estate Commission.

One real estate agent who did not report a criminal conviction to the DBPR.

I know a couple more, but can't think of the details.  Also, at least one of the people I mentioned above got a permanent revocation of license.

 Yes, the CAL BRE routinely publish agents/broker have their licenses restricted, suspended and revoked or reinstated. Those on the list are still practing w/ or w/o a license or under someone else license. Most states DRE publish them.

I know a few who are really good at walking that thin grey line between right and wrong.  I also know an agent (brought the buyer to her listing) that forged one of the owner's signatures, extorted money from my buyers and is being sued and will likely do time in the federal "grey bar motel" for it.

I know the agent who was suspended for stealing art from his clients but now he is back in sales selling multimillion properties.

There are several in this area that have had license suspended or revoked. People can look them up on dpor website if they want. They use to mail out a newsletter with list of all agents that were suspended or revoked. A local loan officer embezzeled 14+ million from Wells Fargo and is getting close to getting out after serving 7 +- years in prison.

No, I don't know anyone who's involuntarily lost their license.

Yes, I do know one licensee who lost his license.  I'm not sure the "why" is really relevant, but he will not be getting it back.

Most just lose them by letting them expire, the failure rate in this business is HUGE!

I remember meny years ago, a foolish agent doing an underhanded thing and the broker/owner (who was an attorney!) dragged her butt into court....she lost her license for 6 months.... she went to florida and relaxed for 6 months.....she's still sleezy....

Ever quarter the commission sends out recently completed cases.  Only on a rare occasion is there one who loses their license for life.  Mainly do to messing around with funds or gross negligence when it comes to ethics, dual agencies, etc... Most get 6 months to 2 or 3 years suspension for the above along with lying on agent applications, controlled substance arrests, mishandling earnest money etc...  Our commission added fines a couple years ago as well, so many of the suspended licensees also pay a hefty fine.

Know people whoo have been suspended and one who had his license revoked! It pays to follow the rules!

I know a mortgage broker who lost their license.  Had to drop it off right on the way to jail.

The regulator publishes this information regularly.  Suspensions are different than losing a licence.

No one personally. But CAR at one point was publishing a list of ethics violators. Not sure if they are still publishing this for members.
