Just a 30 year fixed with an 80/20 Debbie. We saved for a long time.

I used a 20% down no doc loan being self employeed. 

Even though I could of done all cash, I used a 15 year fixed conventional with a large down payment. The time value of potential gains in the investment of unused reserves was the consideration.

i dont even remember, i was 22 yo. i think i made like 1200 a month. it was in  1912 lol

I bought my first condo with an 18% mortgage - 30-year fixed!  But I was in something like a 50% federal tax bracket, so the taxpayers covered a lot of it.  

30 Year Fixed because I wanted a fixed payment. Today, I would still do a 30 year fixed even if I had the cash. At these rates, invest your money and at a minium you get double the return. No brainer.

Ours was a straight VAR on special with no closing costs!

It was an all-cash deal.

VA.  It was a good experience.

Our first was a land contract for a 118 acre farm.

conventional with 20% down and double digit interest rate.  ah the 80s.

LOL...me too, back in the 16-17% interest days when assuming a 12% loan was like winning the lottery!!

Regular 30-year mortgage. It was a co-op and there were not many choices. For our home we later chose 15 years to lower ovarall cost.

I put the down payment on my credit card - seriously! And then went conventional when the house was built.

We did a 20% down conventional on our first property.

I want to say FHA loan but that was so long ago not sure.

I knew nothing about this at the time but remember everyone being excited for me and my wife as the loan was for 15% down 85% financed special deal

First home was the conventional 20% down. No PMI in those days and the builder would not participate in FHA financing. Those were the days!

80/20 in 1996 - before that - rented and moved a lot for corporate!

VA loan.  I didn't realize or remember it until recently when I sorted out old paperwork. 

A combination of owner financing and a conventionl loan from the local savings and loan. However, our first home was not my first real estate purchase. I had purchased and sold a number of properties before we purchased our first home.

We went VA...hard to belive that was 40 years ago!

As I recall it was a conventional loan, but it was a long time ago.

My first home was a HUD forecloser and we used a FHA loan.
