At my age, you don't retire, you just get Listless.

Fred, I retired last year ans lived on my good looks...I went bankrupt in 5 days.

I can't imagine retiring from real estate.  It's like going from the fast lane to standing still.  I'd have to transition into a marketing position like Barbara Todaro .

I have retired. My license is still active.

Not for at least another 20 years or if I win the lottery sooner.

But, then I'd probably go sell property in Wailea, Maui.

Realtors do not retire, it is too much in their blood, unfortunately, they just expire like listings.

Real Estate is what I do not who I am.  I will retire and embrace all that comes with each new day. 

Yes, I will keep my license active - it was a lot of work to get it!

I think about retiring every day... then again, I've retired twice in my life and it didn't stick. So I just think about it, but I don't expect it will happen any time soon.

I'm an entrepreneur and I'll be doing something even if I live to be 100. I teach meditation so maybe that can fill in when I'm ready for less  RE action.

While I've been to a lot of memorial services for Realtors, I've never been to a retirement party.

LOL, did you say Retire?  I heard Realtors never retire ... they just die.  But ... oh you asked, 'IF" I were to retire.  Hmmmmm, I would move to Arizona and still live in Wisconsin (snowbird) and probably just oversee the business.  I can't see myself as ever being a couch potatoe ... at best, maybe I would be a consultant or travel ... there are so many places I have never been.  OK, now you got me dreaming.  ........ if I were to retire .............

I have kicked this around a lot. I am not quite ready but may be in 3-5 years. The business has changed so much in 36 years.

Nope, at least not yet. I would like to take more time to travel, and visit with family, and perhaps run an art gallery again with my wife!

5 years away from it and have a second home in Jupiter Florida. Will be selling my business but will have a license active in Oklahoma and Florida.

I was a listing agent, and I decided 12 years ago to create a team and not to compete with them....I referred all business to them..... and I'm so thankful I did..... now I just market and there's no more team for me....my daughter is the Todaro of the Buliung Todaro Team.... 

I market for them and for my past business partner Lorraine Kuney.... I can do it from anywhere and at anytime..... I make the phone ring and have a written agreement with all of them....it clearly spells out the referral fees for each type of referral....lisitng/ buyer/ new construction .....

I make a very good living....have time to devote time to enjoy what I love to do....

it was a good way to continue to make money and not deal with stress and pressures of competing....

I was inspired to keep selling and keep working in Real Estate after seeing a Realtor in Hawaii who at 94 may be the oldest Realtor in America.  He said that his "best years" were in his 80s when he was selling.  Everyone uses him because he's got so much information and so much knowledge.  His young clients tell him it's like working with a professor in buying, and his older clients say he makes them feel "young and vibrant" when selling.

I'm thinking...yep, I'll keep sellling til I "drop in harness" as they say.

But IF I did think about retiring, I would build a home on a big piece of land somewhere in the South, build a barn where I could put in a craft room the size of...oh...a BARN and teach craft and jewelry classes along with keeping my own line of art going too.  Wait, I do that NOW...okay, so

Yeah, nothing would change.

Yes, but I do not know what I'd do. I have pondered it since the great meltdown.

The only way out for me will either be down or winning Mega bucks in a lottery and with the latter would probably keep going til the downer!

I worked hard for the license to sell!  I won't give it up!

I've tried retirement three times...I just am not cut out for it!

My answer is in harmony with your picture. I would still keep my license active, but not all outrages fees.

I am okay with doing the type of Real Estate deals that I enjoy doing until I cannot. Why not keep the old license active. I write books, do book signings, lectures and one on ones of which I find satisfying. The two endeavors have one common theme...to help people help themselves to a better quality of life

We did - and did so after my emergency hiatus in 2014.  We decided in December 2015 to "re-launch" in real estate.  Regardless, we would have kept our licenses - of only for referrals.

Nah, probably not. I am motivated by Dorothea Rodimon who I worked with in La Jolla, CA who outsold all of us and continued selling well into her 90s!

I have no plans to retire but if I did, real estate would still be part of my life but too a lesser extent. And yes, the license will stay active...you just never know when you will need or want to use it. 

i am working on it.  i will focus on my other business ventures.

I have not thought of this yet.  I'm sure I'll be on a beach somewhere working part time with new construction. O... Maybe a resort!

I would if I knew I could make good money doing something else. I could do several other things, but age and health and amount of money I had to work with would factor in on helping me decide. I would keep licenses active because building and selling a few houses a year would be on my list.

retiring? nah! i'm planning to have time off now and then, enjoy what i like, work with clients i approve of and let the business flow as it may. 

keep going on with work....just  on my terms.... perhaps no one will have anything to do with me... as my terms mean half naked (not a pretty sight) on a moped crusing for fisbos   :)
