I don't compete with myself and that is what this essentially is.

If a customer wants my help, I will list and sell the propety but I will not cut my commission - exactly which part of my advertising or experise should I leave out of our transaction?

Esther,  Iguess it's not important that we like this business model. The client has to love it!

These types of brokerages are not new... they were around before and they will attract certain sellers, but not all. I don't even think about them as a factor impacting my business.

There are many business models that people use.  I don't worry about whether I like or don't like another model.

Why are Agents opposed to this business model?  If the house is in the MLS, and an Agent sells it as a Selling Agent, they still get paid a selling side commission.

It's an option for agents and sellers. There is a market for it. It does not impact me nor is it a service I choose to provide.

I'm not worried about "Hope you sell".  They've been around for a long time and they seldom sell.

I've seen that trend for a few years.  I only know a couple of agents who've done it and the fine print is enough to make it very unlikely that it will happen.

There are all kinds of models. Most sellers soon learn you get what you pay for and seek out a model that will guide them through the selling process. Some sellers will sell their home alone and others may lose tens of thousands in the journey to save money.

I am not a fan of the model but acknowledge it is here to stay. My biggest complaint is that as an agent you end up doing twice the work for half mthe pay.

This is America, the home of many choices and business models. I have NO fear of the opposing models, just do what you know in your own model and make a mint!

I would have to say that a limited amount of prospects do genuinely well in the limited  assist services, but the great majority do need the full services of a professional for best results.

Some like Walmart (O.k. for some needs & mindsets), some like Saks! (Where a higher level of service with results is expected)

Esther,

Different strokes for different folks.  It really has nothing to do with you.  They are catering to a segment of the population that likes cheap stuff and cheap services.  They are not looking for value, just cheap!

Others look for value, pay attention to those that do.  A

Esther,

What do you NOT LIKE about this business model?

Nordstrams gives little thought to the 'blue light special' at Kmart.

Today's agent has a choice. Compete in the market place and race to the bottom regarding compensation or do a better job communicating the value they represent and the agent must STOP play 'patty-cake' with those who mean you harm.

If you spend money with Z-devil, you have no foundation for complaint.
