Hi Fred - At first, I thought I liked it. Not so much now. You're going to love when you're in the middle of something and it decides right now would be a great time for an update, no choice, and updates can take 20 minutes. It's buggy, and things stop working, and it isn't going to play well with some of your stuff. Make sure you're backing up and can revert to previously working versions of 10 - sometimes that's the only fix. I really miss XP.

I will not be upgrading nor will I keep this OS when I buy a new machine

It is intrussive and takes quite a bit of knowledge to remove the intrussive software

Between MS and G trying to follow everything I do they better get with the program because I will NOT be tracked and marketed to do without my consent FIRST!

And for anyone who thinks they are NOT uploading anything to MS watch your network traffic and harddrive light when your machine is idle!

I like Windows 7 and see no need to "upgrade" for "Free" to Windows 10. A tech guy told me that sometime in the next 6 months they will come out with Windows 10.1 that you will have to pay for and you have problems if you don't.

As with every new edition of Windows, there is a learning curve. I just bought a new computer with Windows 10. The screens are different so until I play around with it and get comfortable, I'm still using my older computer with Windows 7. I really don't see the need to upgrade since 7 does everything I need. If you have the installation disk for Windows 7, you need to wipe out the hard drive, then you can install Windows 7. I don't think you can go back from Windows 10 to Windows 7, unless you delete your hard drive

All the horror stories about upgrading to and using Windows 10 aside, it's perfectly fine and, in many respects, superior to Windows 7 and especialy Windows 8! Eventually you will have to use it because MS will stop supporting previous versions of Windows and you could wake up one day, turn on your laptop and it will tell you:

"Microsoft no longer supports your current version of Windows. For maximum security and performance, you must upgrade to Windows 10 before using this device. Please press "OK" to continue with the upgrade."

Might as well join 'em now, cuz you can't beat 'em! Good luck!

Hi Fred. Fear no more. I switched to Win 10 on all my devices quite some time ago. Love it, works wonders. Small learning curve, but you won't regret it. I have an old machine with Win 7, and I'll tell ya, it's not as good (anymore).

Like everything else, once you get used to it, you become golden.

And who wants to continue working in the past anyways.... oh, btw, I should mention that I change machines every 2 years, and I think Win 10 works best with a newer machine...

I had to get a new computer in February, so it came with Windows 10. I've had no issues with it. My computer guy tells me most of his clients are happy with 10--- the issues seem to arise mostly when people upgrade their current system, not when they have it on a new computer.

I just upgraded from 7 to 10.  Smooth and easy.  The biggest change so far (day 2) is the new browser, 'Edge'.  You can import bookmarks from IE and Chrome, even.  It takes literally a few seconds longer to boot up.  Time will tell about stability.  I did not have to upgrade any other non-MS applications - a bonus!  BTW, I had decided to upgrade before 7/29/16 to get the 'free' upgrade, anyway.  After that it would have cost me $129.

It is faster loading than Windows 7, especially if you have a solid state drive. Windows 10 also works well with touch screens. I have had it on my laptop for awhile now without any glitches.

My hubby recently upgraded our desktops from 7 to 10 without incident too. We both use Chrome as our default browser but he said he likes Microsoft Edge (comes with Windows 10) over Internet Explorer.

there are good and bad aspects to Windows 10... on most things it is fine.  I dont like the way photos show now...but I can get around that. Also the edge for the browser has glitches with some programs... I cannot use my MLS on the edge.. I had to install a different browser

it turns everything into apps and I dont like that but it really is overall not bad to work with. If I knew more I think it would work better

I was forced to 10 when laptop died and I had to buy a new one fast last October.  Most of the horror stories were from people who did the upgrade. The people who bought it preinstalled seemed to have very few problems.

So far, I have only had two issues to deal with...first, it did not like something about my HP printer driver, resolved that and it was fine. Second, there was a conflict with 10 (specifically the Edge brower) and our forms so the techs advised to use IE until those issues could be resolved. I still have not tried Edge...

When it saved things I could never find them again so now I save everything either to the Desktop or Dropbox then move it to where I want it. The settings and apps take time to get used and I am still tweaking them. I either need to buy a dummies book or find someone to show me how to get them where I want them.

Fred, I updated 6 months ago, and it was a nightmare at first. I had to get in touch with Windows support several times before all my bugs were worked out. Some of Apps were not compatible at first. It didn't upload my Office 365 without Window's support help desk. Each time it took a level 3 tech or higher to solve all the problems I was having.

That Canva would freeze up in the beginning until Windows did some type of upgrade.

Now, I can safely say that everything is running smoothly. I have only used some of the features.

I was fine with WIN7, then I bought a new system and it had WIN8. I really liked 8 after I found all the cool stuff it could do. Then for some reason I went to 10, I can't remember if by choice or force. Now I keep looking forward to trying a Mac. If you have to have a PC, then I can't think of many options for you other than open it and use it. If you have a choice, maybe do like I am going to do and make a switch. I upgraded to Windows 10 about 6 months ago and it almost froze up my computer. I had to remove it and revert back to Windows 8. My Asus brand was the problem adn they had not updated their systems to cooperate with the new 10. I gave it another try about a month ago and it took. I like the format and how clean the sytems are. Files are easier to find and more like the older systems. Some say this operates more like a Mac.

The PROs:

1. Stop getting message "Our service no longer works with obsolte systems"

2. You had no plans for that $4,000 anyways.

3. You have reason to show appreciation to that nephew or niece.

Cons:

1. After you get into the system, you don't know what to do

2. When you do it you don't know where it's going to save.

3. if successful you know you never be able to repeat it.

4. Like a new car, you treat it like a baby.

Fred Griffin I've had Windows 10 since day one. I had an issue with the Windows 7 to 10 upgrade and had to do a major repair install. It worked well after that until one day after a Microsoft upload, I couldn't print through my parallel port. After several months, Microsoft fixed the issue. Since then, I haven't had any problems.
