The members I follow show up on the right side of my page.  I can then choose if I want to view their current post.

I they comment on one of my posts I get notified per Sybil Campbell comment.

I guess it depends on your settings because I only get notifications when someone comments on one of my blogs or whe I have been tagged in a comment or answer.

Neither. On your blog home the people you follow are on the right & I just look to see when their last post was.

Just makes it easier to find their blog on the "following" page.

I just look on the right side column on my home page to see who has posted lately.

I get notifiied when they tag me, post on comment on my post or like my post.

I do not think so. I just go to Following and check as many blogs as I can.

No, you just get to filter blogs by "following".  No additional alerts.

Already answered by others. I like the Facebook approach and Instagram that you can see what others are responding to and what they have to say.

Neither following is a compliment and will appear as a "follower" if you choose to comment on their blogs regularly.

You have received your answer. If Ron and Alexandra Seigel had stated yes, we are alerted, then I would have needed to go out an buy a new Apple!

Just when they post a blog.

I don't get this type of notification.  I search from the right side of the page for people I follow.  

I have to second Sybil Campbell answer.

I only get notifications like Sybil Campbell does. It would drive me crazy to get comments all day long!

I see it on the right side of the window for blogs

You can see their posts if you click on blogs, then following, but no alerts on comments or questions.
