Clearly that would not be realtors. Average age of realtors is 56 according to NAR.

Well, I was close at 63. Moi? Not retiring... to me retiring is like early death!

Good morning Conrad. Retirement just doesn't sound that appealing to me, the number of death shortly thereafter just goes up much to high.

I should already be retired. I won't be one of those agents that works on into their 70's and 80's. I wil leave it to the younger generation.

Conrad, I thought that Realtors retired when they reached the funeral home! And 62 is only a couple of years older than our average ages! So probably these retirees retire then get real estate licenses?

Retire at 62, with great pensions and benefits. Those would be Government employees.

Wow, did not guess that! I think I was close though in the mid to upper 60s. Of course, technically I did retire from IT and the corporate life last year and I do this for fun.

Conrad Allen That surprised me. I thought the recession hurt a lot of people's retirement plans.

The issue w/ real estate and/or owning your own small business/being independent contractor is that you don't have an automatic retirement plan/pension plan that the company is paying for/contributing to. So, many have no choice. There will always be those that love what they do and want to continue, but there are many that need to continue and do so full time.
I wonder if the avg age is increasing.

Conrad, that seems young to retire. Maybe they count all the military service people who are "retiring" after 25 years of service but then start their second career?

I got that right. Social security kicks in then. Corporate America had a pension plan then.
