My own does, but I've only put one in the ground - and that was for a neighbor I really liked who was running for local office.  Oh, and whatever the rules say, I think it's a bad idea to have a political sign in the front yard of a listing.

Yes, they're allowed in our subdivision with limitations (size, placement, one per ballot issue or office, duration, etc.). I see it as a rather neutral rule.

They also let the trades plant signs for the duration of work (but not to exceed 30 days {rolls eyes}) on improvements such as paint, roof, landscaping. So we all get rather inured to the yard signs and I, at least, no longer really see them.

The older neighborhoods without HOA generally allow it. Most HOA neighborhoods do not because it makes the neighborhood look junky.

Depends on the HOA. And as much as I am for free speech and the political process . . . I'm also for property values. And an area littered with anything is not a good thing.

Hi Sally & David - Many subdivisions prohibit them but there have been a number of 1st Amendment cases in recent years that have invalidated the prohibitions and are commonly used as precedents.

Sally,

In our experience around the country, there are very strict signage rules which include real estate signs and political signs.  I think the old adage of politics and religion not being discussed works.  A

Most allow posting signs on ones property.  I am not sure it would stop an individual from buying a house if the subdivision did not allow political signs.
