Yes and no. LOL
It depends on the question.
Syllabically challenged or just brief?

The bigger Q is: should all be required to READ the Q prior to answering it?  O.o

No

Just kidding...if someone is gaming the Q & A for points, that's a shame.  But if a question only requires a yes or no response, elaboration may not be adding anything of value.

Hi Fred.  I suppose it depends. More than a yes or  no would be nicer but if the question is simple enough and just requires a yes or no, that's ok. Many people like the Q&A section because of its ease of use.

It depends on the question...some are open ended so a detailed response is in order. Others are basically "Yes" or "No" type questions so difficult to expound on those.

Fred,

It is apropriate depending on the circumstance.  Sometimes, I am so surprised by the question, that I find myself being brief and to the point, and at that point, I may feel that my elaboration would fall on deaf ears.  I trust my instincts...If someone wants me to elaborate, they can ask, and I will oblige, so far no one has.  A

Both, I like to see other answers, then a short reasoning for why.  Also it depends on the questions.  A simple yes or no is all you need for some.  For those questions, just ask the question and follow it up with "and why?".
