Depends on the lie and how it affects the transaction or my clients.  If it is just a lie for the sake of lying and has no effect on the transaction, I let them bury themselves deeper.  Otherwise, we have to set the record straight by any means necessary. 

I ask Sam to intervene - just ask Candice A. Donofrio - she'll verify that - we work together against such miscreants!! 

If the lie affects my clients or the contract we're in, then I say "hold up partner" and call them out asap.  If it's just a stupid exaggeration or something that will just make them look like an idiot, then I say let the idiot be. The universe has a way of working that out.

Insta-call-out. I don't stand for it for a second. I will not become a party to a lie.

Good morning Paul. That really sucks, anytime someone does something that stupid. It depends, if it would effect the best interest of my clients, I might address right then and there, otherwise I would not.

Any lying affecting my livelihood negatively gets called out and if not the backhoe, shovel or their trowel will soon accompany them.

I have a situation where I believe the listing agent has not presented my client's offer to the seller.  Further, I believe the agent drafted a response she wants me to believe came from the seller.

I think the agent is creating a bit of trouble.  I'm going to let her bury herself.

In the infamous words of Michael Jacobs ... it depends.  I may hold out if I feel doing so will benefit ... if not, then a different course of action is taken.

I will certainly call them out on it.  However, I will let them finish their "story" then go back through each point on their lie and stare them right in the eyes.  I will let them know we don't have time for lies and they best deal honestly hereafter so we do not need to get attorneys involved. Such nonsense!

Assess if the issue is based on facts the speaker does not know.

"Call them on it' means different things to different people. There are those who delight in ripping others and do so with a Cherub looking evil, and some that have the graciousness to guide.

In some cases it would be challenge to distinguish which is the real transgressor. 

It depends on what the lie is. If it affects a transaction, I will call them out on it. If it is just someone embellishing a personal truth, then I just ignore it but make note of it in my mind. Lying speaks to the character of a person.

It depends on the lie.  It depends on the situation.  It depends on the availability of a shovel.   

I call them out every time. If someone lies to me and I find out, they hear about it right away. Trust and honesty is too important to me.

It has not happened to me.

Can't ever remember that happening. Misrepresentations maybe. mostly inadvertentbased on ignorance.

Some people 'feel the need' so I let them continue until I've had enough. I just had a deal where the buyers agent was like 2 different people - one minute he was ok, the next a complete ditz like he had a dual personality. I kept thinking that maybe someone was using his phone to 'help him' supply the most stupid answers via text.

It also depends on what it's about - sellers disclosing? I would call him on it right then.

They would get two strikes and then I will strike them out!

I would make note of it, and wait and see how many more lies get told.

I will probe deeper.

If it may impact my business dealings I call them on it. Otherwise not.

Despise liars! It definitely depends on the situation. I can think of one I have called out - it was very satisfying ") I think I would enjoy doing it again!

As Michael Jacobs often comments..it depends. I usually ask for immediate clarification.

I would call them out on it. I had an agent who led us to believe that they did not have any other offers on a property. I submitted my clients offer, they counteroffered and then we heard they were going to settlement the following week. The other agent said that I only asked if other offers existed not accepted offers and he was lining up a back up offer. 

I'm all for immediate calling of the lie.  

A lie and I knew it would have an effect on the contract I would call them out.  Otherwise who really cares?

I call them on it and question why they are saying that.

Well that kind of depends on the situation. I might call them right away or let them really get themselves into trouble. If the situation involved a client, I would have to ask the client for their direction on this. 

Depends on the circumstances.  If they're countering something I've said or puttins something in a bad light that shouldn't be, I'll call them to the carpet regardless of their clients being there.

There was one case where an agent said that mud tracked in by their client was already there and not their client's fault.  Luckily I wasn't there for this one!  I was on day six of ultra low carbs and very easily "annoyed."  I'd have ripped them a new one and thrown the client out!

Now if it's something that can be addressed after the fact, I will do that too.  Politely.

I make note that this person is a liar and keep this information in my back pocket.

I try to distance myself from that person forever. The future contact is only as absolutely necessary to fulfill the needs of my principals!

I hate liars regardless of what they are lyin' about...you bet I would call them out on it.

Let it be their problem. Dealing with some of the agents is a difficult aspect of the real estate business. Verfy everything.

Unless it is a lie that involves breaking the law, or violates the rules of the real estate commission.  Then I would call her on it.
