I agree with Barbara Todaro and Bob Betel . I wear business clothing (NOT business casual) I great everyone and have them sign in. I make sure I introduce myself to every person in the party, including children, and every adult gets my business card.

Very easy. Just BE professional! Remember, this is your business, not a social event.

I provide food, drink or snacks. Be nice to everyone and answer questions. Greet everyone the same. Make conversation and dress professionally.

Not to sound flippant or negative but, if you have to ask the question you probably would not understand the answer.
That is a question for your mentor...

The same way I keep all my business interactions professional. I am friendly and focused on the purpose of the event which is to make a connection with each person who attends, get there contact information and offer them value so they may be inclined to work with me when they buy this home or any property.

Dress professionally, conduct yourself as a profession with people who come to the open house, make sure you have a business card and name tag.

Eliminate the hard rock music playing, the kegs rolling...you know...the typical boring, come on over for a looksie, but no getting comfy.

Well Mary, I guess you could slap and a jacket and tie and require the same of all the help staff and pronounce the outcome PROFESSIONAL!
If a tie and jacket was all that was needed to be professional, there would be many more professionals. The reality is PROFESSIONAL is a description properly applied regarding those who have achieved an advanced knowledge of the subject. Jackets and ties may be a shield for those who lack advanced knowledge.
Keeping it professional begins with knowing why the open house is being conducted. 99% will state a reason that has less than 1% success rate. Is THAT professional?
Keeping it professional goes way beyond the scope of an answer on AR Q & A.
