Had this last night, pressed 9 to talk to them and asked for their information so I could report them.  The guy on the phone then said something I can't print here.  Really rude.

Yes, pretty often actually. Not sure how they do that.

Sounds like they are working really hard at this. Would they change the i.d. to every place they call or are other scam calls getting your number? I would report this to AT&T, my provider.

That would be my first clue ... and I would be sure to not engage in any manner.  I have not had that happen ... yet.

I got one recently and the caller ID showed up as a family member.

It is a trivial exercise for someone, who knows what they are doing, to spoof  your own phone number on your caller id.  I know a number of people who have had this issue.

Yes I have, and they are masking many of the calls with local numbers these days in an effort to get us to answer them.

Unforutnate that do not call lists are only effective at harming legitimate businesses.

Yes, how can they do that? Also, received an email from myself, but my mail wasn't hacked and there was no record of it in my "sent" file.  They are definitely getting trickier.

I haven't seen that.  Pretty clever. You glance at the call and the number seems familiar, so you answer -- and they've got you!
