Air is not a pure substance but a mixture of different gases. It is composed of approximately 78 percent nitrogen and 21 percent oxygen, with small amounts of about a dozen other gases making up the remainder. So, science disagrees TeamCHI - Complete Home Inspections, Inc.. And since oxygen depends on water in part, to be created, I'll agree to disagree that my water answer was in part, correct. Pure water is a pure substance because only water molecules are present. Water is a compound. It is made up of hydrogen and oxygen ions that have bonded together to form a new substance that is chemically different from either of its constituent elements.
Wooo yeah, I love the smell of debate in the morning!

Thank you for the answer. I said. AIR and WATER so I appreciate the validation. My husband with EMS for years said Oxygen and Blood because with out them functioning, death is imminent. So we were both right but don't tell him that. He'll gloat all night. LOL.

I think it would be air and water. Without them we wouldn't have lives.

That would have been my guess too... from when I was doing survival training.

Thanks for the Q Michael, TeamCHI - Complete Home Inspections, Inc. I wasn't here early enough to write my A, but enjoyed reading the comments back & forth

If I realized you were being literal in the q, I would have said air. That is obvious.

I was going to say air but now I see it in the second half of the question

Great trick question, but not too many blondes in the neighborhood tonight. I didn't mean you, Susan E.

"What do you 'feel'" is a question asking for a subjective answer based on the answering person's opinion. Just pointing out that that may be why different people answer in different ways.
