You are not going to find a free IDX. Why would a company go through the work to provide the feeds and not make any income from doing it. It is not like inventing snapchat and then banking on the ability to monetize later down the road.

All IDX companies are going to charge you a fee. All WP plugins while many of the plugins themselves are free, they need the IDX service to work.

You can also get RETS from your Board for free if you are the broker - but then you need to either learn how to program the RETS on your site or hire a company to do it for you, and they will charge you a monthly fee.

Even hosting is not free so if you have a wordpress website you will be paying a monthly fee to a hosting company which many people pay annually.

You can find all kinds of wordpress themes that are free with no IDX  but I HIGHLY do NOT recommend you get one. You get what you pay for. When you go with free WP themes - the developers behind them are not getting paid to plug holes they discover and prevent hackers into your site.

If your site gets hacked, then you will be forced to pay big bucks to get it cleaned up IF it can get cleaned and google will place a big fat red x across your site warning people your site is infected!  You will pay more in the long run.

When you buy a wordpress theme that is from a reputable company and that charges for it, those developers are always creating updates to plug any security weaknesses and breaches. 

I've never heard of a free IDX service. Let me know when you find one and how it works.

Looks like an old post but thought it would be good to let everyone know there IS a NO MONTLY FEE solution that i found...it's called ROCKETRETS. it's a plugin for wordpress, so if you don't have wordpress it's not going to help you, but they are in a beta launch right now offering a discounted price and a ONE TIME payment. Some website companies include the IDX fee in their monthly charge, so it might sound like IDX is free.

IDX will cost because it costs the company to provide it to you.  If you're savy, you can make your own wordpress site, but it might be better to have a pro do it.

I think the closest you can come to free is when you pay a monthly fee for a website, and idx is included, although many of those companies don't use wordpress.

 I've never heard of a free IDX service either.

USHA CHANANI most of the answers mentioned - and it seems true - there is no FREE IDX plug-in for wordpress sites.

May be, you can check with your MLS if they have something for the members - with nominal fees.

I don't think that exists. There will be hosting fees and IDX fees... monthlly

Usha website creation and idx do cost unfortunately.  Be careful of a very cheap or free site it will look and attract poorly.

I'm not sure if there is an IDX wo/ a monthly fee.  And, if there is, I'd expect it to be very low quality since all the others charge for it.

We go through placester and love our site (AmandaandJared.com).  It sure as heck isn't free though.

There is no free IDX as far as I know, and if there were I'd be pretty suspicious. I would go with a self-hosted wordpress site with an IDX. It will cost you but better than not being self-hosted

You'll probably have a monthly fee for the IDX service.  Make sure before you proceed.
