I'll echo Ron and Alexandra Seigel   The top 10% of the market would be classified as high end and luxury here.  On my board at the moment we have only 35 homes priced $1M or above.  14 of those are my listings.

The upper 10% of the market and no less than 500,000.  Does not work here, we have starter homes at $800,000.  LOL A

I think it varies from market to market.  In my area over $500K is getting high end.  In other markets, that is squalor.   We don't have much of what I would consider "luxury".

Generally I'd say three million and up here. Mostly it's above five million. But there are some under three that qualify; it's really more about quality than price. If it's an oceanfront property the price can still be high without the quality we see in some country properties.

Kevin it depends on the location.  Scottsdale luxury homes start about 1.5M where as Peoria Luxury homes start about 550K or so. I follow the market in 8 towns/areas each month so it's pretty easy to see what's going on with this market.

Here 'high end' would be $700,000+, and 'luxury' would be $1M+ Kevin J. May.  

Luxury in my market is over $400,000. That is where you start picking up some of the better amenities and architectural detailing.

I think it depends on the area.  We are on the coast and of course...houses are priced in the million range.  But most of the area is an average of $250,000

Anything over $800 is considered luxury in my community. For my county, the comments start appearing at $1M.

Usually around $600,000.00 and up are described as luxury or high end in some areas, but in other areas $600,000.00 is just your basic 4 bedroom home.

I guess maybe $1.5 million to $2 million as the starting point, pending on town.

In some towns, a $1.5 million may only be a bit over avg.

That is a good question, and in Denver, it would be the over one million dollars, as this is the cream of the crop.  

Here it's normally 600k is high end, Luxury is at least 900k. 

I'd say the million dollar and above mark out here.  Ultra-high end would be the 8 million and above range.

In our area it is the top 10% of the market.

It depends on the area.  For example in The Park Cities it would be 3 million.  In Fort Worth about 1 million.

Usually over a million here in the Sarasota area! That may be going up soon!

The upper price range in a market.   In most of the areas I serve that would be at least $2,500,000 --  maybe higher.  

Since 500k is an average price of a local property, everything above 1mln for sfr is high end. For condos/townhouses, it depends on amenities and specific location. 

@usually it is in top 10% (or less) and more generic definition is over a milion dollars homes.

The top 10% is normally considered the high end or luxury. In some communities that's about $1M at least but in others like Rancho Santa Fe and La Jolla it's way higher. Entry level in many communities along the coast is at least $600K for a modest home, and in some places at least a million to get anything at all

1 Million and higher.  I really depends on the area. Some areas even 1 Million is not luxury ...

It's used for homes around $500,000, but I don't consider it really luxury until it's more like $750,000 and above.

Luxury and high end in my market is not just a price point (recent sale in Laguna Beach $45 million needed some work - price is for billionaaires ) it also is condition of property. Buyers will purchase a 2 million dollar home to knock it down and rebuild- end result is luxury high end

Every market is different.

The description is used often in our market. Homes in a great neighborhood, location and very well updated list about $9,000,000.  Condos in the culture area priced the same. 

I would expect the price to be $1,300,000 or higher and located in a highly desired neighborhood.  Price and quality and location are all prime criteria.
