If they don't call back after missing an appointment, they are dead to me. Next!

After the first few tries, try texting/email then move-on. They found a better deal or were kicking tires.

I guess it depends on the circumstances. I try to engage people as much as I can. The other day I exchanged emails with a new prospective buyer lead. We went back and forth with responses and they decided they were not ready to work with an agent. I did the best I could to convince them otherwise. Then I received another email from a client who I was working with but stopped looking and wants to start up again.. You never know ... you just have to gage each situation as they come up.

the simple solution is to be the solution to their problem.
But after they have missed an appointment they will probably never talk to you again, best to just assume they were abducted by aliens.

Why would you want to work with someone like that? Concentrate on attracting serious contenders who'll be leaving you messages asking if you'd consider working with them!!

It depends on the situation.
All "contacts" are not created equal. All contacts are not committed. To the purpose. To me.

Chances are, they are not then honest or serious enough if they stand you up and refuse to answer a call or return a message

It really depends on the client but no proven method.

Good morning. I don't really have a problem with call back, but if I left a second message, I would move on.

I don't ever repeatedly call and never leave more than 1 single message. I find that the more desperately you try to contact them the less they want to deal with you.

I use the "close their file" technique. It works great and it gets a result.
What is it? You'll have to read my blog on it, coming soon!

Keep on calling. Give them a reason to call you back.
For buyers - their dream house just came on the market
For sellers - I have a cash buyer

If they miss an appointment, and do not return calls, there is usually a reason for this behavior. Either they moved on, or were not really that interested to begin with. I would try to contact them a couple more times just to make sure something didn't happen to them, and then move on.

I would try twice, maybe three times depending on the previous conversation, they let it go.

Call from a number the client has not spoken to you on. If no answer do not leave a message because curiosity does kill the cat and they will most likely call back to see who it was that called. And then you have the hook, line, and sinker in them where you can discuss the reason they did not answer and it could have been a huge mistake and they forgot and were embarrassed because they forgot. Just remember no one is perfect and not to get mad because an emergency might have occurred that was out of their hands.

Try a couple of more times, text and email and if still no response I determine this is a person I do not want to do business with. I can't imagine working an entire transaction that way. Life is too short.

This is the LAST CALL (LOUD VOICE) if they want to see these good deals.
Disengage your contact.

Try to reach them by phone by leaving a message. If they don't call back, move on.

Offer them something they can't get anywhere else? But, that's a tall order. If they don't call back a few times - adios.

I use a situation escalator.
AM and PM call day 1 acknowledging "Life happens" but this does not have to end.
Day 2, "I know you are busy.....something new came up, call me"
Day 4. "Here is your access code to CIS SCORE. You will find it very useful when attempting to value a house you are looking at."
WAIT.

I usually don't have a problem with communicating either by email, text or phone but if they don't respond on the third try I move on!

I don't think that there is any best way. Folks are on their own agenda – not yours.
