Here in the Washington DC area it will.  The change in the administration (regardless of the winner) with lead to a change in appointees, and staff, those a change in housing requirements.

Any change in political power will impact the stock market and real estate.  Depending on who wins, it may be a good change or a bad change.  I'm more worried right now about California's next governor race.  That's going to likely turn this state into a living nightmare.

Good morning Anthony. I made up my mind a long time ago, that I will never allow the economy to have any effect on the amount of income that I want to make.

Well there is certainly alot of speculation that it will have an impact, as is true every 4 years. I think, in general, we see a slow down around election time. Time will tell if this bears out in 2016. There is, at least now, alot of buyer demand

I've noticed that every 4 years -- no matter who is running -- the market seems to slow down especially 2 months prior to the election.  And then once it's done, just like little ants people are scampering around all over again ... like business as usual.

Yes, there will be an effect.

Should a D get into the white house, the middle class American will take comfort knowing they will continue to get poorer a little at a time. It will be their economic erosion by health-care costs that will force personal calamity.

Should THE R get into the white house, the same thing will happen except MUCH FASTER.

The uncertainty and craziness created by the latter will freeze everything.

Not for the serious buyers or sellers. Serious being those that really want to move this year, or sell this year.

If it is the best time for your family to move, then you do it. You don't wait because of Washington DC, because in the end, little will really change as it relates to real estate.

It sure can as consumer confidence affects listings and sales. Right now there is very little confidence in this administration and many home owners are staying out. No one wants to move with the low level of confidence.

I do not expect it would have much impact for the midgrade homebuyer, however it could have an impact on the luxury housing as well as the economy housing markets.

I think Trump winning would inspire real estate investment, since that is his thing.  The others I doubt would have a similar effect.

Hope is always high during an election year. Politicians promise the world and consumers feel confident.  This should be a great year for real estate.  Once the election is over things change.  Half the country feels like it's time for doom and gloom because their candidate lost and they truly feared the opposition.  This election sure doesn't offer a Kennedy or Reagan so things could be skaky for a while.  Trump, Sanders, Clinton, Rubio, Cruz?  What happened to all of the people that give us a hope for the future?

Yes indeed If Trump gets elected  there will  soon be very little housing shortage in the United States  particularly around  the East and West coasts. Toronto/ Montreal  and  Vancouver May tighten up on housing.

If Sanders gets elected  we are likely to flatten out as  many more people will  likley be enjoying  the legalization of many exotic leafy varieties of intoxicating plants and won't give a damn about much of anything including housing.
