I am getting better at keeping my big fat mouth shut about all things not pertaining to the issue at hand, that being real estate.
Though, this week I was with a couple where the lady (and I use the term loosely) was so foul mouthed in front of everyone that I stopped the tour and fired them.

i try to not let my opinion get involved.. however if my "knowledge" can help them make a decision that is better for them.. then i will work it in, if you are speaking about their persoanl feelings about social or political items, i stand clear

Sometimes I do find it hard but try to stick to the rule of 'no politics and no religion.'
I do try to change the subject when feeling offended by client's comments.

Paul S. Henderson, Realtor, Tacoma Washington it depends what it is for.
If it has something to do with the process, I do.
If it has something to do with liking or disliking the home, they are the boss!
And of course, if i do not know them much - focus is on main topic, their home.

Mr. Murty says I do not have a filter. While that's largely true, I can usually deflect and make my way through with humor. I'm pretty sure I'm terrible at hiding my opinion, but pretty good at making people laugh. It's a pretty good offset.

I've gotten good at shifting the subject. Asking a question that's a completely different topic is a good method.

I will not voice my OPINION but will, if needed, identify the behavior that is unacceptable and why that behavior will prove a burden to them.
If they refuse to hear my respect and honor message, I know everything I need to know.

I'm ok, but certainly, there are many situations when I wish I have said something else or in a different way. All those shoulda coulda woulda.

Sometimes. I try to ask questions to make them think. Like," will you have $10,000.00 to put new shingles on this roof in a few years" ? I ask this when the 20 year shingles are 25 years old, and curling.

It really does depend on what the subject is to what degree I voice my opinions. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor.

If I am asked about my opinion, then YES, I do give them an earful. But I do remind them that it is merely one person's view point and it might not be the right one, but it is my view. Otherwise, I do keep my opinions to myself.

I am an opinionated person and usually make my feelings known. There are certain clients, mostly those that are closed minded, that don't want to hear anything but their view being agreed upon. I am not out to lose business or alienate clients so there are times I'll bit my tongue.
