There are lots of MLS listings being entered into completely different states MLS systems by flat rate MLS only listing brokers. There's nothing I can do if they play this game and I tell my customers that these are typically nothing more than overpriced FSBOs, which is what they are.

If it was an honest mistake yes, if I find out they are doing it just because out of area no excuses. That is just not professional.

No. I do not make excuses for other agent's, period. Not for their lack of knowledge, professionalism, common sense, and the list goes on and on. I do not give them the beneift of doubt either, after seeing examples day where I simply shake my head.

Ronald Gombach Easy mistake to make. I hope she advised the agent to correct it.

Ronald, I am licensed in three jurisdictions, and I have had many successful transactions pretty far away from my own back yard - usually representing a buyer. I've had nothing but helpful listing agents when it comes to help obtaining information, paperwork quirks, and access. And when I get an agent from across state lines, I always return the favor.
With such amazing improvements in the quality of the MRIS information and Google Maps, I think we all need to get used to agents expanding their territories.

Mistakes happen, you dont know why or how it was done. The only thing you can explain your clients that that listing is wrong and what you provided them is accurate data

I stick with the facts.
If the agent is wrong...they are wrong.
Now, when a 'wrong' agent chooses combat instead of reason together or acknowledge their limitations, I am not very merciful and will PROTECT THE HOMEOWNER.
Your example is not uncommon. A listing appearing in another mls. A potential for a career listing.

Why would I make excuses for them? Their work or lack there of does not affect me.

Not at all. I had a very negative experience with a local listing held by an agent from out of the area. The Realtor remarks in the MLS state the condo was move in ready, but when I entered the condo with my clients, it was filled with rotting garbage and trash. I wrote the listing agent and informed her that the MLS would be notified and I would never again show one of her listings. Very poor way to manage a listing and this one was supposedly vacant!
